Turbo

Watched this today at Showcase Cinema De Lux at an Insider Advance Screening.
Much like the typical DreamWorks Animation movie, it snatched most plot elements from previous Pixar movies, mostly Cars (as most would guess from the trailer) and surprisingly Ratatouille. Nice to see (or hear rather) Samuel Jackson as Whiplash, with a rather interesting array of voices, interesting to see Ryan Reynolds voice a second DreamWorks character in under a year (after voicing Guy in The Croods). Found equivalent of Linguini (now a Mexican called Tito) slightly more interesting than Turbo himself, making me wonder why he is not seen in the advertising campaign. Could easily guess what major plot point what was going to happen next, but I guess for children under 10 this would not be the case.

Overall 6/10

The trailer for this looked SO funny and I was really excited to see this because of that but was unfortunately disappointed. The funniest bits were in the trailer and the parts of the movie before Turbo started racing dragged on. Worth it for a few laughs here and there and the character of White Shadow but not one I'd soon rewatch. 6.5/10 (mainly for the wealth of cakes, muffins, pastries, meringues, etc at the gala screening)

Me neither. Although forgot to say, it was nice to have a cameo from the monkeys from Madagascar...

This is a perfect example of when a trailer oversells the film - disappointing. 6/10.

Better than I expected it to be, but felt it dragged (no pun intended) towards the end. It's an ok film.

Went to see this earlier today and was surprised, having previously scanned the feedback on this thread ;) , by how much I enjoyed it.

It moved along at a reasonably brisk pace and I was quite appreciative that it built up to one long and actually quite exhilarating race (rather than lots of abrupt ones). I also thought that visually this movie was quite stunning and vocally it had a really great cast that helped to create a collection of very likeable characters.

Overall this was so much better than the likes of Cars or Planes so all in all this gets a well deserved 8/10 from me o/ ...

Might consider re-watching it in 3D, as apparently, it makes the racing scene look stunning!

Saw this today at the lovely Piccadilly Vue (Apollo) a lucky comp win. Really enjoyable film, top-notch animation with a nice little story and good characters. Also enjoyed the humour, definitely recommend this in preference to Cloudy/Meatballs.

The screening was for families so lots of very small children, the little girl in front of us lasted about 3 seconds before bursting into tears and being taken out never to return.
