Broken City

#1 Post by andrews » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:11 pm

I've looked but can't find a thread for this film.

Starring Academy Award® winners Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Academy Award® nominee Mark Wahlberg, expect gritty action, glamour and plenty of suspense in the crime thriller Broken City (Cert TBC).

Billy Taggart (Wahlberg, The Fighter) is an ex-New York City police detective forced to step down by the city’s mayor Nicholas Hostetler (Crowe, Les Misérables), after being acquitted of killing a man who got off a rape and murder charge.

Seven years later, when approached by Hostetler weeks before election day and asked to find the man his wife (Zeta-Jones, Ocean's Twelve) has been sleeping with, Billy jumps at the chance of getting back in the game.

But as the story unwinds and Billy completes the job, he finds he's been double-crossed and set up as an accomplice to murder.

Broken City (Cert TBC) will be showing in cinemas nationwide from 1 March.

If you check your ticket online now, you'll see it says 7pm as that is always the case at the O2. If it initially said 6.30 that was an error.

I don't think I got an e-mail to point out the time had changed, but when I got my reminder, the time had been corrected on the tickets. I was expecting 6.30pm to be wrong.

Got there for 6.10pm, which was super early for me - the balcony was closed off! I didn't believe it at first, but if most people thought it was meant to start at 6.30pm rather than 7pm, that makes sense. Downstairs was fairly packed - including the rubbish front section which is too close to the screen. Popular film it seems!

Russell Crowe was so much better in a role not requiring any singing... I enjoyed this, particularly the score.
Preferred cinemas:
Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Empire Leicester Square, Cineworld O2, Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and Odeon Panton Street, followed by anywhere in central(ish) London.
