That's great news. I was quite hoping there'd be a sequel, but wasn't sure there would be because I assume this was the prequel to the wizard of oz.

ponderous and unnecessary movie for 1 hour. Not really fond of the sfx either, a lot of it looked veeery unnatural. Guess a man cant complain for the fit women on show, but 2 out of 3 of them aren't good actresses- Williams was the only one who you can properly call a top actress. Similar doubts about Franco's larger than life wizard, but maybe that suits Raimi's inyourface style of directing.

Then bizarrely, one hour into the movie things start picking up, as if the Director's coffee arrived at just this moment during the film's making, and bits of witty script and better special effects emerge towards a crescendo ending with every effect under the Sun thrown in, including fireworks, in an attempt to kill of the Wicked Witch of the Whatever.

Seems a lot of hullaballoo just for carving yourself a witch. Shouldda phoned Hansel and Gretel, mate.

Might go and see WICKED now in London. May see this again in IMAX, as it really is cut for the biggest screen.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I TOTALLY agree with this!
Thought it was shallow and boring, focusing on heavy effects and just no substance at all, The Croods in the morning was better IMO :/
Shadowhunters: Looking better in black than the widows of our enemies since 1234.
I am, after all, what you made me.

I have to say I disagree with raj101 and rawr_xoxo re Oz.
I really enjoyed the film :D . . . I know I was certainly looking for a "happy"/good film given the problems of the previous day and found it here. To me the only thing I missed was the songs. I would have liked a few songs even if not from the original film as I know there would be all kinds of problems re copyright. I think the story itself was good and the various adventures were fun!
I had put on my ruby slippers in case there was room for me! :giggle:

Pleased to hear that there's going to be a sequel as I would be happy to see it!

Has anyone seen this in 2D or in both versions so they can compare? I only have 2 x 3D tickets to use and have to decide whether to use on this or save them for one of the other 3D films due out, ie Iron Man or Star Trek and see this in normal format. Not usually impressed with 3D so would prefer to save for something else if there is not a great deal of difference.

Thanks
