Parkland

Whilst rather pointless, this was well made & much better than most reviews had lead me to expect.

I pretty much agree with the comments above, this was well acted & at times quite emotional but as it didn't offer any real insight into events surrounding JFK's assassination I found myself wondering why this movie needed to be made.

Overall a decent enough biographical drama that just about managed to earn (thanks mainly to the cast & their performances) a 6/10 from me...

Saw this tonight at Glasgow with OH, McG and teddybear1. I thought it was interesting, especially to see the real footage with a solid cast. However, like previous comments, didn't really learn anything knew about the assassination. Although the film was more based on the emotions of the people involved rather than on the event...a different take on what I'd expected.

Liked the bit at the end seeing what happened to each of the people (and how alike the actors looked to the real people).

I found it fascinating to see how the murder impacted on those people involved in the aftermath.

The man who took the famous film, the medical staff, the Secret Service, Police etc and Oswald's family all had to deal with the aftermath in different ways.

Jacki Weaver was wonderful as the Oswalds' mother and if the conspiracy theorists are right, then she told the truth. Personally, I don't believe a word.

I often wonder how the families of high profile murderers deal with the crime their family member is accused of. As such my sympathy lay with Robert and I truly admire his strength of character and resolve
for ignoring the advice given to change his name and move.
It may well have been protocol but how cold and brutal would it have been if they
had abandoned Jackie Kennedy and left her without any support at such a traumatic time.
This film moved me immensely and although it featured an historical event, I was praying they would save him in the emergency room.

It was very interesting to see such a famous event from totally different perspectives. I applaud the hospital staff who then had to deal with
trying to save Kennedy's killer.
8/10

I might have enjoyed it slightly more had the middle-aged moron sitting next to me, hadn't been constantly scrolling on his damn mobile phone and showing it to his female companion. Sir, you should know better at your age!

o/ I really agree with your review, The Sparrow.
I was totally engrossed in the emotional journey of these minor characters of that infamous event.

I hadn't realised until I researched it, just how many health problems JFK had. In fact they hid most of them from everyone.

If anyone would like further info on points raised in the film, you can do so here -

I personally found this to be an immensely powerful film, particularly the first third. I have always known how the population was affected by these events at the time, and in my lifetime can only come close with Lady Di dying. I really felt the raw emotion and the shock and disbelief through the film that was felt at the time. I know people always say they know exactly what they were doing when they heard JFK had died. This really seemed to illustrate this for me. Very moving indeed. Unfortunately I cannot know how great (or otherwise) a person he was nor how much of a loss, only now can appreciate how people felt back then as a result of this loss.
I've always wondered exactly wehat happened as well as the aftermath and how people coped.
The rest of the film was also enlightening as to the background behind Oswald and his family.

I do have to say I felt this film.

8/10 and a rather good way to celebrate my 100th.

PS. Who spotted Abraham Zippidedoodah was also the driver of PL Travers in Saving Mr Banks? (Oh, and T.hanks had a directorial role. His third outing this week!

Also, noteworthy, Tom Hanks was one of the Directors of "Parkland" and his son, Colin Hanks, also featured as Dr. Malcolm Perry , the first doctor to attend JFK in the hospital.

Well made and acted, never boring, but ultimately hard to see the point. 6/10

Couldn't see the point of this. Nothing new was shown.
