Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

#1 Post by funthing29 » Thu Dec 12, 2013 11:50 am

I enjoyed this more than I expected to (probably helped by the alcohol imbibed beforehand and the atmosphere of the premiere). The whole cast were there to introduce it and I got a high five from James Marsden  as he left the screen (*swoon*).

It is too long and there is a section just over half way through that really slows the pace down and feels unnecessary but otherwise this is rather fun with some decent jokes (not all the funniest bits are in the trailer). There is a sequence at the end which is hilarious and I enjoyed spotting all the cameos.

It was a long wait for this sequel to arrive and it does not have quite the charm or originality of the first film, but it is still ridiculously silly and very entertaining. 7.5/10.

I was at the Leeds Anchorman screening tonight and the Jameson team went all out to make it a pleasurable experience. I even tried being a news anchor myself, had a free drink and came away with a goody bag at the end. The only down side was the seats in the screening room. Only blocks of stone would have been more uncomfortable. Apart from that it was a very entertaining evening.

Just rewatched the first film and enjoyed it much more than I remember doing first time round.

Really looking forward to the sequel now.

Tried to watch the original and I'm afraid I have to demote this to the 'if I have nothing to watch I might watch it' pile.

In my opinion I think he plays too similar characters. I enjoyed Everything Must Go where he was much less silly than he usually is and the story was actually interesting.

Really enjoyed this tonight. Huge thanks to The Fox for the tickets.

The original left me cold when I first saw it as a few other Will Ferrell comedies have, but I watched it again and laughed all the way through.

Maybe this is a bit long and not every joke lands, but it's silly and surreal and inspired at times and even has a pinch of satire and I'd take this any day over some of the gross out mean spirited comedies of recent years.

Definitely not lame 8.5/10

Saw this yesterday morning and not only could I recall nothing of the original; I couldn't even remember whether I had liked it - so obviously I hoped I had.

I felt that the start was a bit lame, as were some later sections - it seemed to be a scattergun approach of ideas, not all of which worked for me. However, I found myself laughing quite a lot, though perhaps not surprisingly, just about everyone else present was young and male. I won't say any more on that point...!

A harmless way to spend a couple of hours before doing something a little more engaging: 7/10 from me.

It warmed up as it went on (although the battle scene was too long) and it was funnier (to me) than the first one. It was a good way to spend 2 hours when I just needed to clear my head after a 12 hour day at work.

I really wasn't sure about this...but the cameos stole the show and made the film for me. The ones at the end put the one at the beginning to shame. Best part for me.

I'm the other way around. I watched the original in my house on my own, stony faced, didn't laugh once.
However thanks to F_T I went to the Jameson's Premiere, and laughed my head off. The wonders of an audience plied with drinks and mustaches. :shifty:

I have to say the whole 'meet the parents' part had me cringing.

7/10

The film was nuts and didn't do much for me.
