Totally agree with you, Ms Thrifty. Whilst this wasn't really my kind of film - I have to say that Emma Thompson was brilliant.Ms Thrifty wrote:LondonCityNights and midian whilst I share your reservations, I rated this film far higher, for the acting. I could sum it up as "great cast in a bad film"

Re: Filth
The humour felt dated/very 90s (yes the book was written then, but it felt like this film was delayed too long to work on screen). There were very few laughs from the London audience - other than two women who laughed at words like "spastic" and "wog" - so at least they enjoyed the film. Have to say ...

Re: The Call
I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would from the trailers and posters. Halle Berry did her best with a flimsy script and there were a few tense moments, but I have to say I quite liked the ending as it made me laugh! People have said they found the ending unbelievable - but never ...

Good lighthearted laugh - 3/5 stars! We saw it at Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and this was the first screening I'd been to where we were all asked to show ID on entry. They must be cracking down on passing tickets onto friends?

Shame to hear it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I liked the fact it made me laugh! Really enjoyed this film and loved the black and white too - refreshingly different from the usual Hollywood. Clapham Picturehouse is also a lovely cinema - thank you ShowFilmFirst! 4 out of 5 stars.

Good lighthearted summer comedy, may have been a bit predictable, but there were lots of laughs! 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Beautiful Cornish landscapes, but that's where the brilliance ended. Dull storytelling and very unbelievable that she chose AJ. 2/5 stars.

Re: The Moth Diaries
Moth Diaries was OK. I'd give it 2.5 out of 5. It a bit of a teen film without much substance... unless you like metaphors about moving on with your life! Shame the Wimbledon screening today was only about 15% full though - looks like people grab tickets and then don't show up?

Went to the preview at Odeon Wimbledon today (only 50% full). Overall the film was entertaining, but a bit lacklustre. It would've been better if it had been a bit darker. 3 stars.
