I saw this last Sunday. A very moving film & for the record, I also thought Jack was a girl throughout the whole movie. I suspected his mum was protecting him from the bad guy by calling him/her Jack as if the child was a girl, perhaps it would have been abused also. But actually Jack was a boy ...
