Saw this last night at the Cineworld and was very pleased that it lives up to the hype. This is an original piece of science fiction which deals with "difficult" subjects from which it does not shy away ala the usual empty blockbusters. The SA setting is alien in itself but also disturbingly close to home. The term "It couldn't happen here" is not applicaple! Production design is great and one can almost smell the rot and decay inside District 9. The CGI is believeable but also not over used. The acting is also natural and not having any "star" names make it more so. Though I doubt we have seen the last of the lead actor - an amazing performance especially as he starts off being very unlikable. Untill more people have seen this film it is not possible to go into much more detail.
