Re: The Devil's Double
Excellent film and more relevant since it was based on the written work of Latif Yahia (Uday Hussein's double & Saadam Hussein's first born son). It has historical relevance and it appears that the film was an accurate depiction of what occurred at the time.
Uday Hussein appears to have been a despicable psycho and parts of the film depicting some of his offences were so harrowing I had to turn away from the screen.
Cooper's performance was indeed brilliant. He was convincing in both roles & the film was exciting from the beginning to the end.
Definite 9/10

Re: The Devil's Double
Watched this at Boldon last night and with the lack of tickets issued for this I was sure the cinema would be heaving.. however I reckon it was only half full if that. I had a quick look on IMDB earlier in the day just to check if it was subtitled and noticed Dominic played both parts, however failed to notice he was the guy from Mamma Mia (what a div I am).
Thought the film was amazing, the acting was great and the gore scenes were full on hide behind your hand scenes. I went home and found a blog written about Latif and horrified to find how much these scenes had been tamed down and things that actually happend. Didn't quite understand Sarrab's stort at the end.. think I may need to watch it again as im blonde..... and a some points I did think she looked like Christina Aguilera in Burlesque!
Dominic Cooper in the end scenes as Latif = SWOON!!!!!!
10/10

Glasgow people - was anybody else's attention drawn to the big smudge on the left hand side of the screen? Probably just me....
Not blown away by the film, Ludivine Sagnier (?)'s Frenchness kept showing through and there were a couple of truly horrible moments. The ending seemed a bit tidy, but if it's true, who am I to argue? 6/10 I think...

Re: The Devil's Double
Dominic Cooper deserves an Oscar for his acting in this film! Wow!!! I was totally blown away with it. Brilliantly done, although very brutal and hard to watch I enjoyed every minute of it. The acting was amazing and the way they merged the 2 parts was seamless. Brilliant 10/10. I watched it at Sheffield and it was probably 80% full. A couple of people walked out, I think my mum would have lasted about 2 minutes if that so its a good job she was the baby sitter for the night

Were you the big smudge? Lol. Were you standing up blocking the projector, or did you have a huge hat on? Lol.ploggit wrote:Glasgow people - was anybody else's attention drawn to the big smudge on the left hand side of the screen? Probably just me....

Re: The Devil's Double
Was I supposed to sit down? I thought the seats were optional.... And I always wear my biggest sombrero to the movies, especially when there are so many mexican-looking moustaches on the screen. Perhaps I should just have cleaned my specs?

Only kidding.

I didn't notice the big smudge on the screen. However did giggled at the two males who stood on the stairs cos they couldn't see ant of empty seats due to the darkness right at the start fo the film. Also laughed when I recognised Cheeksdevil's OH's voice as he tried to find her.

Re: The Devil's Double
Did notice the big smudge and wondered if it was for effect (as the blue flash in Super8). We were also entertained by the folk trying to find a seat in the dark calling out for a torch! Glad they got one!
