Lego Universe MMORPG goes free to play @ universe.lego.com

In August* Lego Universe introduced a free to play option for its Lego Universe online MMOG game.
My boys have had great fun playing it. Although there are certain limits to the free to play version I think its very entertaining and just thought it was worth a mention.

*August 15, 2011 - LEGO® Universe, the MMOG (massively-multiplayer online game), is now welcoming new players to traverse the LEGO brick-building digital universe with its newly introduced Free to Play Zone. Fans will be able to enjoy the game for free for as long as they like.
The LEGO Universe free-to-play experience offers a selection of game content, including two adventure zones and one player property area for building your own virtual LEGO models as well as access to thousands of other players’ properties.

What can I do in LEGO Universe as a Free Player?

Free Players can jump right into the action on board the gigantic Venture Explorer spacecraft tutorial level, then it's off to sunny Avant Gardens for some Maelstrom smashing action! What's more, you will be collecting lots of bricks on your travels that can be put to great use in the Free to Play property zone. Here you can build anything you can imagine out of the same LEGO bricks you can get your hands on in stores. There may be some limitations in place, but they certainly will not stop you having a great time!

As a Free Player, can I fight the Spider Queen?

The Nexus Force needs all the help they can get to make sure that this pesky creature doesn't escape again. This means that Free Players will get the opportunity to show how brave they are! All new recruits of the Nexus Force, Free Players and Members alike, will get to fight the Spider Queen once they have proven that they are tough enough to face the mother of all Spiderlings. She is really hard to get rid off, though. So, even after successfully defeating her, you will be able to fight her over and over again, just like every other boss in the game. So, gear up and get ready to show her who is the true boss!

Why have you introduced a Free to Play option?

LEGO Universe is going stronger than ever, but we want to make it easier for even more Nexus Force recruits to join the adventure! By making the beginning of the game free to everyone, lots of new Nexus Force recruits will see how much fun LEGO Universe is and join our exciting online community to help us defeat that pesky Maelstrom once and for all! With the power of Free to Play being unleashed, Imagination has never been in safer hands!

Is there an obligation to b*y a membership when I play the Free to Play version of LEGO Universe?

Fear not, Explorer! You can play the Free to Play version for as long as you want to. There is no obligation to b*y a membership.

How many Minifigures can I create as a Free Player?

It is great to hear that you are eager to join the Nexus Force in their epic fight to save Imagination! When you are playing LEGO Universe as a Free Player, you can create one Minifigure to start your adventure.

How can I get help as a Free Player?

Can I choose a custom name for my Minifigure as a Free Player?

It's great to hear that you want to use your imagination right from the beginning of your adventure! It's not possible for Free Players to choose a custom name, but you will still be able to create a cool and unique name by using the namenator! There are lots of cool combinations, so you could go for something that suits you best or something really funny.
