We've been tipped off that tastecard is giving away 5,000 free 1-year memberships. It's a discount card scheme that gives '50% off' or '2for1' at 1,000s of UK restaurants - at full price the card costs £70/year. It used to be called tastelondon, but is now nationwide.

To grab a card, 'like' tastecard's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/tastecard?sk=a ... 4038641794) and fill in the form before 11.59pm Friday 14 October 2011 (you can unlike it straight away). Unlike previous tastecard giveaways - which were first come, first served - the lucky 5,000 will be selected at random.

Tastecard will inform you if you've got one on Tue 18 October, and everyone who doesn't get a free one-year card will get a free one-month card.

If you have had a free trial of one-year tastecard before, you can still enter.

Where it works: The card's advantage over normal restaurant vouchers is you can book with a large list of restaurants, which includes many local eateries, as well as large chains such as Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, Strada, GBK, ASK, Zizzi, La Tasca, Prezzo and Bella Italia.
