It was really interesting to note the historical inaccuracies too, I was particularly looking out for things when they went for their trip to Paris. I thought they did quite well considering their tight BBC budget, then again I am not one for spotting historical inaccuracies

Agree with most of other comments.

A slight, but very watchable story.

I can see how ending could have been a let down to some, but I found it refreshing that the film didn't have all the obvious coming of age cliches.

Alfred Molina is fantastic especially the scene when he is holding the tea and biscuits at his daughter's door.

Went to watch this at the Printworks in Manchester last night! Overall I quite liked it, I thought Jenny's dad was really funny and I really warmed to her parents. They were trying to do the best for her though not always succeeding!

My favourite character was Helen - loved her dizziness and when she asked Jenny why she was speaking French it made me laugh - I was thinking the exact same thing!! There were a couple of moments where I felt really uncomfortable ('can i just look at them' & the banana scene) but I think that was intended by the film makers!

Had mixed thoughts on Jenny - occassionally felt sorry for her as she was being 'groomed' but at the same time she was very full of herself - and the ended disappointed me (like many others) as I thought she sounded really smug!

7/10!

I saw this last night at Gateshead, and have to say that I found it very watchable indeed. There was occasional laughter throughout the film, which was gently paced. We laughed at the scene where Jenny was being given careers guidance - basically - get your degree and then go into teaching or the Civil Service. A voice near to us piped up - 'Don''t do it!'

A pleasant film, not earth-shattering - 7/10 from me.

My daughter and I saw this at Covent Garden Odeon last night and we both enjoyed it. Some may think the ending is a cliché but this is a memoir and I'm happy to see they seem to have stuck to what was written rather than change it to make it appear cleverer. Thought the performances were excellent and whilst I thought it seemed to drag a tiny bit, I was glad see it and thanks again to a_person for giving us the tickets.
