Easily could have a sequel made, even if this was based on fact.
The begining was a bit slow and dragged on a bit I thought, but once it kicked off it really got going.
Running time was just about 1h30 and could easily have been a 2hr+ film.

Just used my precious, one-and-only Cineworld voucher to catch up with this and really enjoyed it. Surprised to find the performance relatively well-attended (for a weekday matinee in Crawley); also by a generally older and well-behaved audience, apart from the one young and noisy popcorn-chomper across the aisle from me. Far less unnerving to watch than "Kevin" if still full of tension and treachery.

Excellent performances and it roped me in. I too was surprised at the end.

This was pretty damn good. I love American politics and their political campaign so this was perfect for me. Anything that talks about the problems of open primaries as an essential plot point gets a lot of credit from me!

Loved the plot and Gosling's character (much more interesting than Drive even though they are comparable in the way they seemed rather detached). Only problem was the young woman's character was handled without enough attention but I can look passed that because Stephen's transformation was so great. And who wouldn't vote for Clooney to be president?

Loved Philip Seymour Hoffman and especially Paul Giamatti who stole every scene. He looked and acted every bit how you'd imagine a campaign manager, great casting.

I was absolutely knackered so one thing that I might have missed which I'd love someone to fill me in on:
After Stephen's plan worked and he became campaign manager through all the blackmail, did he ask for any particular job in the White House as part of the blackmail? I'm especially curious because he must have wanted a big job further down the line after the campaign but their working relationship would be so incredibly strained. No Bartlet/Leo McGarry/CJ/Josh/Sam/Toby rapport in that White House! Would also love a sequel but can't see it happening though.
Great film. Doing a presentation on it for uni in a couple weeks so might have to see it again which isn't a problem!
