Re: 50/50
Finally caught this and liked it well-enough, but it fails on a lot of levels.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: 50/50
mm yeah I think its unfair of people to expect a cancer patient to go round wailing their head off in distress all the time.
They are rarely like that, its denial for along time, and some bursts of anger along the way, and even when they are going they often are very accepting of it, though the relatives frequently are quite noisy.
The eventual focus is that they just want to spend their time how they choose to, regardless of whether they live or die. Whether they live or die can be a ballbreaker for them.
Mitch struck me as the most genuine cancer patient there.

Re: 50/50
I didn't expect him to be in constant tears. It's more that when JGL was trying to come across as sad, it didn't feel genuine. Even when he was raging with frustration, I think a tear or two would have helped. It's a minor point, though.

Re: 50/50
i get your point, his face is so neutral and calm. I think he was playing a bit of a quiet office rug type dweeb, and he does have the face for it lol (although hes good looking so it dont matter if he looks like a geek, hes almost the Keanu Reeves of the emo generation).

Re: 50/50
Well after the fire incident at Holloway weeks back, finally saw this at Empire Leicester Square. I'd say it was worth the wait. It was kinda strange in the sense that I'd watched the first 50 minutes already, but it was nice to round off the film.
Very enjoyable

I really enjoyed this film. The comedy lightened up the sad topic and yet i still believed in the characters and the emotions they went through and thought it was well acted. I actually liked the fact that it seemed realistic and not overfetched in terms of storyline as alot of movies do.
