Back once again for 2012, the Holland House Dutch festival plans on turning the whole of central London orange with its celebrations. Live music, delicious Dutch food and drink, and plenty of entertainment from Holland will get you in the mood for springtime.

Koninginnedag
The Holland House Dutch festival is an annual event that takes place in Holland and here in London to mark the Dutch Queen Mother's birthday. Known as Queen's Day or Koninginnedag, the celebrations see thousands of Dutch ex pats and Londoners descend on Trafalgar Square for a full on party of orange proportions.

Fun for the family
Kids and families can enjoy demonstrations from the Love London Go Dutch cycling campaign, as well as other child friendly entertainment throughout the day. Dress in orange and take part in a variety of traditional Dutch games available throughout the afternoon in Trafalgar Square.

Food and entertainment
For the adults there is even more to see and do at the Holland House Dutch festival with an extensive Dutch market selling traditional foods like caramel waffles and a huge selection of cheeses. Pancakes, fries with mayonnaise and a range of Dutch drinks will also be available to satisfy your appetite, while there's also a molecular mixology lab and two pop up bars.

Live music
Live entertainment at the festival comes in the form of live Dutch bands who will be up on stage entertaining the crowds with well known hits, with acts including Rigby, De Coronas Splendid and Rachel Louise. Elsewhere sport is the order of the day as you can watch pole vaulting demonstrations from British and Dutch athletes, and take part in a cycle challenge, and there are also free tours around the Dutch paintings in the National Gallery.

The Holland House Dutch festival runs from 12pm - 8pm, Saturday 14th April 2012. The event is free to attend.

A bit more low key than the great Dutch Day, we have St Georges Day on the week after (not sure why we cant put on as good a show as the Dutch in our own country?!)

http://www.molpresents.com/stgeorges

St George's Day Festival

21 APRIL 2012 12:00

Start Date: 21 April, 2012 - 12:00
End Date: 21 April, 2012 - 18:00

Location: Trafalgar Square

The Mayor of London has teamed up with an award-winning horticulturalist to create a central London oasis that will see the square a-bloom for one day only.

Visitors will be able to enjoy pop-up gardening installations, floral art and Grow Your Own exhibits for the urban green-fingered.

An ornamental bandstand will feature English music hall classics alongside performances from up and coming musicians.

The colourful line-up will also include entertainers, English rose making origami, face painting and a garden treasure trail for children, plus horticultural talks from those in the know.
