Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Was at the Cameo in Edinburgh Sunday morning. Both of us really enjoyed this film. Wish the Kirsten Scott Thomas character could have been in a few more scenes as she was hilarious. Would give this 9/10. Got bus up from Leith and had no trouble getting there. Agree with post that said a lot of latecomers who were a bit of a distraction but good to see the cinema so full.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Officially Salmon Fished out with a 3rd viewing but there's not much choice with free screenings in Sheffield and it was the only night my friend could make it. No free books this time but I noticed a sign while waiting for my friend outside the toilets that they are selling the book off for charity for a minimum donation of £2 for the NSPCC which is a nice thing to do with the spare books from yesterday.

Was meant to see this tonight but too late home so missed my last chance and will have to decide whether to p*y or use a free ticket when it's released on Friday.

Saw this today at a 3/4 full Portsmouth screening! Really enjoyed this film it was sweet and charming, the time passed really quickly, it's not something I would watch again, but overall very good

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Saw this in Islington today. It was quite full, but there were the most amount of latecomers I've ever seen! I actualy shushed one of them (we were quite near the entrance) when they were discussing where to sit. She looked at me, shocked, but it did the trick!
The film was nice, with some great laugh out loud lines, but it was a bit slow for me. I was distracted by the Scottish accent, not because I knew whether it was accurate or not, but because there had been so much discussion about it! Hahaha! Is it me of was the wife's accent different to Ewan's? Speaking of accents, what accent was the Sheikh supposed to have? I really liked Kristen S-T's character and agree it would have been great to have more of her in the film.
Overall quite enjoyable, if a little slow, so a solid 7/10 from me.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Saw this tonight at Manchester Lowry, as missed the previous 2 screenings in Manchester.
Like anakin above we had more latecomers than I have ever seen at a screening before, there seemed to be dozens of them and rather than sitting at the front where there were loads of seats they were going up and down the aisles and distubing people to get to the seats further up.
As for the film we really enjoyed it and found the story good and loved Kirsten Scott Thomas she was very funny. My friend was sure the ending was different to the book can anyone confirm if that is correct as I havent read the book - 8/10 from me.
The only downside to the screening was that there was a big dirty mark on the screen and when the film was pale, which happened a fair bit it was really distracting. I did mention to this to one of the staff on leaving, adding the film was very good, and was told they would look into it. Was anyone else at the Lowry?

lovely film, not nearly as demanding as it might let on.
KST appears to be perpetually stuck at the age of 40. She was having fun here.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
I attended tonight's screening of this in the cosy, pretty full, 102 seat screen 6 of the Metrocentre Odeon and finally got to actually stay and see the film. In my book that's always a bonus (Yes, I'm looking at you Silverlink)
, and what a very engaging film it turned out to be too.
Kristen Scott Thomas stole the show and gave a superbly witty performance as the prime ministers dynamic assistant with what appeared to me to be lashings of EdwinaCurrie-esqueness. Quite an inspired choice for a character base for someone that is shown to be seeing to the needs of a pm
, some would say. There were some genuinely funny laugh out loud moments in this.
Ewan also came up trumps with a fine delivery of his slightly geeky, uncool and awkward Dr Jones character. It seemed quite a departure from anything else that I have ever seen him in, but none the worse for that. Emily was easy on the eye as always and gave a nice performance here.
7.5 out of 10 from me for this.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
We saw this tonight at Manchester Lowry, got there in at 6.15 pm and was surprised how empty it was.
We commented how empty it was as the film started - should of kept my mouth shut. We thought a coach party had arrived 10-15 mins into the film or else they had been directed to the wrong screen. Like akh43 says if you are a latecomer just grab a seat at the front, don't go up an down the aisle looking for seats, if you want a special seat make sure you get there early.
We liked the film, nice easy viewing, with great scenery. I half expected Ewan McGregor to burst into "Your Song" at the end of the film.
Sorry didn't see the dirty mark on the screen or you akh43, we were on the back row
