Saw this at Islington which meant changing at Bank to Northern line. Which is a journey I've never done before or at least never done during rush hour. It was so squashed. 8O
The story was v. good, with some very funny lines and the acting was great (EM and KST especially). Not sure I would see it again, but did enjoy.

Saw this at Basingstoke Vue (3rd time lucky, as I had given 2 lots of tickets away in the previous 2 weeks). Cinema was packed by 6.25pm with hardly a spare seat. Really enjoyed film, excellent acting by 3 main characters, was very easy going but loved it. Favourite film of year after Headhunters 8/10

Saw this is Wimbledon last night. A gentle, light-hearted film with beautiful scenery and a good cast. It was nice to see Ewan McGregor using a Scottish accent for a change. Lovely cinematography and the Moroccan countryside used for the Yemen settings was fantastic. Kristin Scott Thomas was excellent - slightly OTT, but a great comedic character. Every line of hers was a gem! Would really recommend this film.

I enjoyed this - it is wonderful to see a gentle traditional story/film sometimes.

KST was wonderful and I wish she had been in more scenes.
EM was also very lovely - and he rocked those cardies very well. :p

It is not really a film for repeat viewings - but a very pleasant way to pass a couple of hours.

On a side note - the film lacked any hold on reality - and I am speaking as someone whoes Dad is a hydrogeologist who has worked a lot in the Yemen. He was disappointed to find it was filmed in Morroco not Yemen -- but had to face the fact that film companies have a different idea of a safe place to work than he does!

Still, an entertaining & gentle film, that was a lovely scenic watch - 8/10.

Oh, I forgot to say that I thought soldier boy was quite hot!

akh43 there was a gross mark on the Islington screen too, but I didn't mention it to anyone as they were recording comments for radio ads so I tried to escape as quickly as I could!

Saw this in Islington last night, like JazzyC said, it was a very pleasant way to pass a couple of hours. KST was excellent as always, couldn't tell if some of the dialogue was bit clunky for the actors as sometimes I felt EM was not just acting in a slightly awkward way but also trying to cope with some odd phrases that could not be excused by just jis character. However, it was a gentle romantic (in both the love story and love of nature/scenery) very British comedy that I am sure a lot of people would enjoy.

Felt a bit too sickly sweet, clichéd, and predictable for my liking.

Just an ok/passable for me on this one. Didn't hate it entirely, but didn't like it enthusiastically, either. Some of the clunky dialogue made me cringe.

The OH liked it, though.

I really enjoyed this - the awkward moments were actually funny, and although cheesy at times, it was a lovely way to spend a few hours!

I am slightly in love with KST. Have always been in love with EM. It was great to see EB have a starring role - thought she carried it well.

Read the book years ago, and glad that the film has delivered!

I'll probably watch it again if it comes up on Sunday afternoon TV...
