Just to report that I went as a spectator today - my day off!

I got to Stratford at around 7.30am (I took the javalin hi speed train from St Pancras International - took 6 minutes and in peak time trains seems to run every 5-7 minutes!). There was hardly any queues through security at the Olympic Park, it took us 5 minutes, then we had our tickets bleeped and we were through the gates within 5 minutes, since we did not need to stop to take any photos on the way (as I must have been through Stratford Gate more than 6 times now, and my OH even more for his opening rehearsals!), we reached the Basketball Arena in about 20 minutes. No queues there either. We topped up our water bottles in The Street Market outside the Basketball Arena, and went into the Arena around 8.40am and took photos outside with the Olympic rings and took our seats around 8.45am and the teams were warming up for the 9am start.

However, you have to put things in perspective, 12,000 people (that's how many seats there are in the Basketball Arena) can't all turn up at the same time and expect to be seated by 9am, hence the need to arrive early.

After our morning sessions, we wondered around the parts of the Park that we have not been to, the River Lawns, Park Live with the big screen, World Square, Beatbox. It is amazing and the sun shone, and we had a brilliant day. The Orbit was expensive for what it was though.

pxc, have you tried to queue for those Wimbledon_like "return" tickets?
Is it only in the papers or do they really apply this policy? I am thinking to stay around next Monday after our morning session and see if we can see something else on the spot!

A little mixed up with your am's and pm's there I think. Any way pxc did you have to p*y on the fast train? Last time I looked at using that you couldn't use travelcards or p*y as you go but had to p*y a separate fare like the Gatwick & Heathrow Express.
