Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I saw The Killers tickets on Twitter, but they had all gone by the time I saw them (quite some time after tweeted).
Leonard Cohen yesterday and tonight is from his world tour. They were originally to be at the Hop Farm festival but were moved by LC to Wembley. I'm going!

Ah, spotted it now!canadian_turtle wrote: No I saw it on MSE, but hours after it was posted so understandably all tickets were gone by the time I saw it and I didn't post it here to not get people excited for nothing
I don't check those threads as often as I used to, I find here is the best source for codes, followed by HUKD. Interesting to see tickets for something so big go through eventbrite.

I thought you had to do this by 6pm? Did you have to show photo ID?

Really gutted I couldn't make Leonard Cohen as living in portsmouth, yesterday he treated the crowd to a 3+ hour set with 2 encores!
His would be really good live!

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Sorry Yes I did...but I went back home after as I live real close to the venue..and went on the laptopBeate wrote:I thought you had to do this by 6pm? Did you have to show photo ID?
I did have to show photo id ready but she did not even look at it and handed it back to me.
People were still collecting tickets and entering the venue when the show was about to start. No idea if they let any SFF ticket collectors do that or not as there were various types of queues outside ie. Barclays...guest list..

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Saw some awesome free things this week so far (comp win +1 and an invite):
Monday I went to Herman van Veen in concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. He's a famous Dutch musician who's been around for yonks and while I am not particular fan of his I did grow up with his music and it felt really awesome to have a little piece from home right here in London for a moment. And the show itself surprised me by exceeded all my expectations. The songs were beautiful and very moving, the acts in between proper old skool lough out loud funny. I had an absolute brilliant time and felt a bit disappointed when after 1.5 hours it was "already" over. 9.5/10
Yesterday I finally saw Mamma Mia!, which I've been wanting to see for ages! It only just transferred to the Novello Theatre this week so I'm not sure if that means it downgraded but I thought the set was tiny and because of this none of the staging was awfully spectacular. The singing also wasn't impressive from most characters (most notably Donna and Sky) which I think may be partly due to poor sound, it was very soft, and awful projection on their part making it hard to understand what they were singing. In all I wasn't impressed with the cast (singing wise they really were in the same league as the film versions - and they were just a laughing stock). However there were some very funny scenes (especially the ones between Donna's friends and their "conquests" and the stag do) and the encore which while identical to the set they've been doing at West End Live for years really made the show go out on a high. 7.5/10

Don't worry - I thought Sheridan Smith was a man!pcrock wrote:Oh, I had no idea that the lead actress was famous.canadian_turtle wrote:I don't think it's very likely. It has Sheridan Smith in the lead and I assume for that alone is selling well. I too would love SFF tickets for it though ^_^pcrock wrote:I'm hoping that SFF will give away tickets to Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic. I saw Hedda last night and enjoyed it, but I'm afraid that I wasn't convinced by her acting. I loved her dresses though! and I thought all the supporting cast were very good however, as was the staging. As usual with Ibsen putting yourself in the character's situation requires a little effort but it was worth it.
The audience in general (including Dustin Hoffman) seemed to enjoy it as well.
