Badly timed though to coincide with the fireworks from the Thames Festival.
Everyone in the stadium must have been wondering "what are all those loud popping sounds?"

WOW! Tell me that did not send shivers down your spine!!!! (anyone who might still be awake)

Interesting to note that the fireworks display ended about 3 minutes before the one shown on TV.
Wonder why such a massive broadcast delay.

Wow. What an ending to a fantastic Olympic and Paralympic games.

Inspire a generation is perfect motto of this games.

not only in the stadium! we started hearing pops way before 10.30 (still don't know exactly where from) all across London!
on TV, it looks like both fireworks ended exactly at the same time, so not such a bad timing; plus laser displays thanking London and UK on Waterloo Bridge

It's true - there were two fireworks displays both in central London. Three, if you're counting the stadium.
One would have been from the Thames Festival (the one at 22h30) but not so sure about the one 15 minutes earlier.
Perhaps it was the Tower Bridge spectacle which they merely broadcast later as part of the stadium fireworks finale.

fireworks were truly great, such a brilliant ending to the olympics and paraolympics, so loud i could hear them in my home :P
