Just catching up on here! Wow, what great photos Jayman and funthing.
I was also at the Parade, did not get a ticket as a Games Maker but luckily all London Ambassadors were invited, to stand at North of the Mall, so turned up early to get a prime spot right by the barrier, being short, I don't want to miss anything! We were also told once the floats had passed the barriers would be removed and we could follow the Parade down to the Victoria Memorial and watch the fly past, and speeches and the concert afterwards. But security obviously had not been told and so we raced through St James Park to get closer to the Victoria Memorial only to be stopped by a band of Security, who just would not let us pass into the bottom end of the Mall, even though we showed them the email that said we could go there. So we almost missed the fly past as we argued with them. They kept telling us to go back the way we came, but we stood steadfast and ignored them and just enjoyed the atmosphere, the speeches, Pet Shop Boys and the wonderful voice of Katherine Jenkins.
We had a great day out, met other London Ambassadors that were also at the Guinness Book Treasure Hunt, and even stalked Eddie Izzard to get a photo with him.
Although we had to wait four hours before the Parade arrived, we were entertained by grannies on motorised shopping trollies, a piano playing nun, athletes bulked up with fake muscles, even the police and stewards joined in to entertain us, and then Eddie Izzard came and shooked hands with all of us, and Boris rushed by twice.
The atmosphere was electric, and the cheers when the athlethes came by our spot was deafening and it was wonderful that they were clapping back at us and had placards that said 'Thank You'!
An amazing experience! To cap it all I got two letters from the David Cameron, no less, this weekend, one for my role as London Ambassador and one for my role as Games Maker to thank us for our contribution to London 2012.
