Parents saw this at Bluewater; two queues system there and packed with people also sitting on stairs but nobody was turned away. Just finished interrogation and they were very happy with the film though both have crippling neck ache from sitting in the front row, the fragile petals!

As was said, we weren't asked for the paper at Covent Garden. Got a phone call at 5.40 saying people were being let in, so frantically legged it there. Tiny screen as per, but I felt the organisation was quite smooth, with the usher coming in to count remaining seats and control numbers being let in.

My friend loved the film and is going again on Friday - don't think I want to see this a second time immediately, but I did enjoy it. Russell Crowe's singing was by far the weakest in the film - his acting was good, so they should have just dubbed him.
Not knowing Les Mis, I was surprised by how short Ann Hathaway's time on screen was, given all the press about her role, but I agree she delivered an excellent performance. I was also mildly depressed about the story's apparent message that no matter what you do, someone will shit all over you and your plans. Pretty much everyone dies! And why? What was wrong with Jean? Fantine was ill over an extended period of time, he just seemed to lose steam when he left Cosette. Broken heart?
Saw this at Wimbledon tonight, took 2 friends (their first free preview), was worried we might not get in as the queue was so long when we arrived (at 5 to 6...) and, like in other cinemas, the staff came down the line & told us that people with the paper cutting would get in first. Luckily we got in & sat 2 rows from the front.

There was a member of staff in the screen, counting chairs that were left, I felt quite sorry for him as it was obvious there weren't enough seats for everyone & I'm guessing a lot of people were turned down (or maybe they opened another screen for the film, as other cinemas did tonight?).

Wow what a fantastic film....we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt like speaking through song to my mates when we left the cinema!

I saw a pupil of mine in the queue, who called my name when she saw me & beamed at me. Love it when I get spotted!

(Non-related to the film etc......but boy is it hard to get up & down those stairs in the screen when using a crutch! I'm starting to feel a lot older than I really am with all my aches & pains!!).

Anyway, did any of u get turned away from the  Wimbledon screening?

Same shamblesat cardiff, with the 'who has the newspaper?' being asked every few minutes. Us paperless people totally outnumbered them. They took our names and called us forward after the chosen ones went in.
Took my friend tonight as OH can't stand 'screetchers', as he calls them. Best film I've (we've) seen in a long time. At the end I had tears running down my face, we even clapped. Personally, I loved all the singing and it didn't seem too long. Brilliant performances by most - have to agree about HBC though, is that the same hair style used in Great expectations?
Loved the play between Hugh and Russell, female characters did not have a lot to do but Ann H as Fontaine gave a very good performance = thoroughly enjoyed her singing.

Was warned by a colleague that she found the stage play difficult to follow but the film laid it all out for you. Brilliant, would even p*y for a DVD! 10/10

If I'd known I would have presented myself! I was in the middle section front row.

We saw it at Odeon Greenwich; no problems to report. Though it sounds it was sorted earlier.

I thought the sound quality in the screen was very poor, it was like listening to a mono recording. I like the effect of 'live' vocal track (rather than a vocal dub) and focusing on facial shots. This really came into its own with Anna Hathaway's I Dream.

But while the Director was right to keep the musical track in the 'foreground' and keep the focus on the vocals, for some songs the music was lost in the background. That might have been exaggerated as the sound quality in the screen was poor.

Russell Crowe's vocals are currently being debated in my household. (he was better cast than Paul Bettany, originally approached). So who is going to tell Mr Crowe? :D
