I really enjoyed it! I knew the inspiration of psycho but loved the wee snippets of the person as the film progressed. The couple sitting behind me however were numpties. They both had puffa jackets that sounded like sleeping bags when they moved and they moved a lot. Very distracting and champion seat kickers to boot if you excuse the pun!

Saw this at a packed Edinburgh screening this morning.
Was surprised how short it was at just over the hour and a half.

It was very well done and thought through, I thought.

Helen Mirren was brilliant as Alma.

I found Anthony Hopkins a little too Welsh still and a little creepy with those prosthetics on. I can live with the fat tummy but the facials were OTT and I found them offputting.

STill, great film. 8/10

I did enjoy the film today.

I have never watched any Hitchcock's films, but I did a lot research last night.

He's a genius.

Superb !

I am a Hitchcock fan in general. Loved the chemistry between the 2 leads

Someone does need to make the ultimate Hitchcock biopic though. Unless I am wrong I dont think its ever been done (for film or TV)

10/10

Saw it yesterday and I genuinely enjoyed it. The story was well told and I loved all the references to Hitchcock's movies other than Psycho. Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins were as always great and the support cast was first class as well. I would definitely recommend it, although Hitchcock's fans are probably do what I did - and that is they're going to try to see the real face in the made-up face of AH.

Saw this at a pretty full Islington Vue yesterday and really enjoyed it. Both Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren put in great performances, and I thought that it was really interesting to see a different side to Hitchcock. A lot has been said about his obsessions with his blondes, and his mistreatment of many of them during filming, but I enjoyed getting more of a sense of what a gamble Psycho was. It is now classed as classic Hitchcock, but at the time it was a huge risk both financially and professionally, and the sense that Hitchcock, who was at the peak of his career, stood to lose everything made this film really interesting for me.

Inviting comparisons to Psycho is never going to help a movie. Making a movie about one of the greatest film directors in history is not going to guarantee you a great movie either. With Hitchcock, director Sacha Gervasi is aiming high but also cruising for a bruising. Despite stars Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and an almost never sweeter Scarlett Johannson, Hitchcock is overall not as suspenseful as a film about the master of suspense should be.

The end of the film just can't compare to being able to sit and watch the fruit of Hitchcock's labour. If the film just ended with us being able to watch Psycho all the way through from start to finish, it would have made Hitchcock an infinitely better movie. As it is, Hitchcock will interest fans of the master but I'm not sure many others will be lured.

Thought this film was very interesting to watch, i for one couldn't take my eyes off the screen! Hopkins and Mirren were at the usual brilliance. I'll rate this film 9/10.
Off by one point due to the ruined atmosphere of the film by a very rude couple whose phone which rang (very loudly) during the film, and of which they also answered!

Saw this on Sunday. I know it was early (and free) but surprised by the amount of latecomers. They wandered in up to half an hour late, it felt like, and it's not that long a movie!

Loved James D'arcy as Anthony Perkins and some nice one liners. Amused by Hopkins' flapping trousers as he walked away from camera towards the house at the end - I guess they didn't fat suit his legs! The facial prosthetics were pretty good though.

Considering that Hopkins in Hitchcock mode is currently doing the little film telling people to switch off their phones because their is nothing scarier than a ringing phone during a film, this is rather ironic!
