I just received a USB cable for my mp3 / external driver. When I connect my devices up to the computer, they turn on, but then they don't appear on my computer. I can't find them anywhere... help : (

edit: when I connect my mp3 it keeps turning on, saying 'low battery, shutting down', turning off, and then... doing it again and again!

Same here, it might die and I can't save my work as my external hard drive doesn't appear on the computer... It definitely works, I have no error message.... can the problem come from the usb cable??
This is stressing me out. I'm working on a 70 page translation and my computer is being slow as hell. Trying to send myself the document by email just in case but there as so many things I need to save right before I move that I'm freaking out.

What do you mean? Gmail, dropbox or things like that? I can do it for the moment but it's not gonna help long.
My problem is that I have many, many things on my external HD and... I also need to charge my mp3 for 7 hours of train next week!

Thats last resort stuff. It sounds like windows hasn't given your drive a drive letter but its an easy fix.

Find My Computer and RIGHT click on it. From the menu select MANAGE.

Select disc management

It will find all attached drives including those without drive letters and even clashing drive letters.
Right clicking on your external drive will give you another menu where you select
Change Drive Letter and Paths
and then you give it an unused letter.

Warning!!!!! Only do this with the drive you are certain is the external drive - change nothing else or you could render the entire pc inoperable.

I checked that and I only have:
'Disk O - (C:)' and 'CD ROM O'
