Don't give up yet andrews, if you like Terrence Malick's films you should still give it a chance. Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian liked it enough to give it 4 stars.

I watched it, but I have to say it left me scratching my head.. I couldn't understand what was going on for the most part. I think the lack of dialogue lets the film down for me...

Better than The Tree of Life, mainly because any film is better with Javier Bardem cast in it but still contemporary art masquerading as film. It felt like Malick was squeezing out the remaing dregs of existentialism that would not fit in to The Tree of Life.

Hmmm. That was a bit disappointing.

I got the story I think. They fall madly in love, get separated, she moves to the US, has to move back to France, fell out of love, got back together and separated again.

Where this completely failed for me is the lack of Baffleck's acting (or trying to act?); he has roughly 20 lines in the movie (that he actually mumbles through) and a handful of repetitive emotionless facial expressions!
For those who saw it, do you think Malick failed to give him directions or did he actually asked him to play it like this?
Seriously, in the first phase of their love stories, I'd have expected them to somehow connect with one another!

This was very grim. I preferred Tree of Life.

I really enjoyed To The Wonder. However I agree 100% with the comments made about Ben Affleck's acting ability - or lack there of. I feel that he was probably supposed to be emotionally unconnected otherwise this would have made the turmoil and pain that his love interest endured unrealistic. It was thought provoking as you would expect from a Malick film with the questions of love and God being raised. Olga Kurylenko is wonderful in her role and you cannot help but sympathise with her struggles. The film is visually stunning and well worth watching. Worth a strong 9/10.

To be fair, I'm not sure I've ever seen a Terrence Malick film before, but the fact that the guy at the Little White Lies screening felt the need to give us a five-step guide to watching it before the movie meant I knew it was going to be rough from the beginning.

I think I got it a little bit, but that's not to say I liked it. I liked Javier Bardem, but still have no idea what his role in the film was, and still unsure why
Rachel McAdams dumped Ban Affleck in the first place, though I guess it might have had something to do with Olga.
Though of course, I'm going against the guide and contemplating the story and the characters. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. Wouldn't have been upset not seeing it, but the free wine was a nice touch.
