Got two notifications today relating to the free films forum (for The Paperboy & Losing The Plot) but there was about a forty minute delay from the creation of each thread to a notification being sent/received.
Up to now I've received notifications usually about five minutes after a thread has been created so just wanted to ask if there was something specific that happened today to cause the delay?

The internet and mail systems can be mysterious at times. Mail that isn't delivered immediately is held in a queue on a mailserver and waits until it can deliver it. Sometimes it can be months.

The vast majority of emails are delivered in seconds, but sometimes the route they take ends up in significant delays. Its usually trustworthy but sometimes a mailserver gets a mood on and delays happen.

All in all the notification system has worked pretty well so far (and has certainly helped me out in the last few weeks) but it's worth knowing that occasionally it will experience the odd hiccup (through no fault of it's own)...

Its not the worst example of this as i've had a delay of months before now, but this example clearly shows the system isn't 100% perfect.

I never rely on my alerts totally. Sometimes, I get it within minutes, other times like you say, it could arrive months later!

I've noticed that if I'm not on the forum for a couple of days, the notifications stop. It actually says in the emails "No more
notifications will be sent until you visit the forum and read the thread while logged in". So, if it's been a while from when I receive the email and when it was posted, I know that I've missed out so don't bother clicking on the link. That means, though, that I've shot myself in the foot because then I don't actually get sent anymore notifications!!!
Sorted that by now coming onto the forum daily to catch up with stuff!!!

Not Receiving Forum E-mails Even Though Subscribed

Anyone Else Only Get Sporadic Screener E-Mails?
Hi guys,
I've missed a few screenings because I didn't get E-mails about them - despite being subscribed to the free films forum. By the time I found the link later by checking the forum (just in case) all the tickets were gone. This happens quite a lot. When I first subscribed to the forum, I got E-mails about every screening. Now, I don't get any at all.
Anyone else have this problem? And if so, is there a solution? I've tried un-subscribing and subscribing again, but that only 'worked' briefly.
