Bernie

#1 Post by RAZORBACK » Thu Apr 11, 2013 11:17 am

I know that this made an appearance at the 2011 London Film Festival but as it has a UK release date of 26/04/13 (on IMDb at least) I thought I would mention that it appears to be the next Total Film Screening Club movie (the webpage is dated Oct 26th 2012 :confus: ):

If this is the case then the code should make an appearance at some point tomorrow...

I think this is a legit find, so thank you...

i thought this fabulously kooky. It really made me laugh. I thought I was going to throw up at the opening scene tho', (the super glue et al. shudder!) Although JB's acting was a bit stilted it was novel to see him in such an adult role. ahhh, JB's grown up at last!

recommended 8/10 from me.

looked it up & found the story told from the perspective of her nephew as told in the NY Times:

Funny in parts but neither me or my OH thought much to it, was a little disappointed.

Very disappointed. Didn't find it funny at all and was very bored. Even the decent cast, couldn't save this film for me. 2/10

Hmm. I don't know what to make of this one. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great either... just meh.

I thought Matthew McConaughey was the standout performance for me in a film which I'll most likely have forgotten about tomorrow.

I was once again reminded why I truly hate Cineworld Trocadero... if I'm watching one film, I don't want to hear the bass & sound effects from a film in the neighbouring screen.

If you can't get your sound proofing right, close down, get it right, then reopen. Mini rant over.

McConaughey makes it a 5/10 (only just).

I ventured down to the dreary Craperdero for this, what a mistake. We had the ususal queue till 6.20 then up to the rubbish screen, with surround sound i.e. the sound of the next door film  As soon as it started, with Jack Black was singing along to an awful Country song - THE WHOLE SONG 8O I knew I wasn't going to like it.

I left before the end, what was the point of staying when I had no interest in the film whatsoever? 2/10 for Texas
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Thought I'd lost the will to live - the parts where I actually managed to keep awake to were so bad that I wished I was asleep again.

What possessed Matthew McConaughey and Shirley Maclaine to agree to appear such a crap film? Thank goodness I didn't p*y for it.

Overall I enjoyed this and I certainly appreciated how it managed to seamlessly mix both it's fictional and documentary based elements.

Solid performances from everyone involved made watching this flick a pleasant experience so although it wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be, it did just enough to get a 7/10 out of me...
