So I don't think this is out in the UK until Summer but it's out in the US Today so I went to see it. If this is true life well hell I must be so smart hahaha.
I'm not sure if its supposed to be a comedy or not but I haven't laughed so much in ages, ok since I saw Identity Theif.

I can't deny I didn't enjoy having a peek at Marky Mark in this (yes I still call him that!) but it's a ludicrous movie for a ludicrous bunch of people. I have to say that the music supervisor on this was spot on! Great job.

Ratings wise I give it about a 6/10.

I hadn't realised that this film is based on a true story!

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read up on it but here is a brief outline.

Pain & Gain is a film based on a true story written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directed by Michael Bay. The film is based on a 1999 series of Miami New Times articles surrounding the brutal kidnapping, extortion, torture, and murder of several victims by an organized group of criminals that included a number of bodybuilders.
I'm looking forward to this one!

He was great in Faster (a revenge flick) where, if I'm not mistaken, you see him with tears in his eyes in one scene - very rare for him. Loved the track by The Heavy at the end where drives off into the sunset.

On reflection the only reason it is ludicrous is because the people it is based on were so I guess it's pretty fitting. It's quite stylised and doesn't do much for the stereotype of "meatheads" I still don't want to see it again though. It makes me crazy how stupid it all was

Saw this at a press screening tonight. I thought the first half was good but the second half not as strong and really made the film drag. I laughed more than I was expecting, mostly due to The Rock's performance and he steals the film. It is preposterous but fun and it is a shame that the second half is not up to the same standard as the first hour. 6.5/10.

Fully agree that The Rock steals the show, though I also did for the most part enjoy Mark Wahlberg as well. Rebel Wilson, however, was COMPLETELY underused. Would have liked for her to have more screen time and better material. I'd like to know how much of this they took liberties with, as at one of the more ridiculous parts we were, in fact, reminded that this was a true story.

The voiceover technique was good to advance things, but at times it was difficult to tell The Rock from Tony Shahloub from Mark Wahlberg when they first started talking.

I do love a good dumb criminal. Should really have quit while they were ahead. And checked the kill. Always check the kill, have you learned nothing from every movie ever?

Lovely also tonight to finally meet RickyRaj and funthing29. And the unexpected buffet and open bar was also a major bonus. Cheers, Paramount!

I enjoyed the film better than I thought I would.

Funny I thought with a pretty good cast. The Rock was very good as a dumb criminal and complemented the other two main characters well. Great to meet Caitlinmorton and Funthing29, the freebies were a nice bonus. It's a 7.5/10 from me :)
