The Big Wedding
Re: The Big Wedding
I thought this film couldn't really be as bad as its 8% score indicated on Rotten Tomatoes, given its stellar cast. Well, I was wrong. It was much worse.
I am not hard to please but, during its mercifully short 89 minute duration, I did not smile once. The plot was, thin, inconsequential and pointless, the characters sketchy and dislikeable, the comedy non-existent and the dialogue painful and, at times, crude for the sake for it. What possessed these respected actors to add this bilge to their CVs I cannot imagine.
Turkey of the year for me.
1/10 (the one point is for the lovely house and settings - that is all.)

Re: The Big Wedding
Glad to see someone else thought it was not that bad! Maybe we Scots are in need of something to cheer us up even a little given out weather.marjoreemarjora wrote:Ni I agree with McG. Not a bad film and nice to catch up with Biggins. Did not see you Stuartboy which was a shame as Mum had brought you chocolate and a wee drink!!!
We enjoyed the film, easy watching and as one of my friends used to say...better than a slap in the face with a wet fish!!
Robert De Niro was fine it was Diane Keaton that grated she always looks the same!!!
6.5/10 from us

Someone asked if anyone would see it again . . .me! Maybe that says how sad I am!!!!

Re: The Big Wedding
Another bad thought about this.... Does anyone remember the end of Police Squad episodes where the actors pretended to freeze in place, trying to hold onto whatever expression was on their face?
Therein lies the poster for this film....

Re: The Big Wedding
I expected to hate this film, the trailer didn't give me any other hope tbh.
However, it was actually funny. I admit I wasn't roaring with laughter but it did make me laugh which was a surprise given the mood I was in.
It isn't the funniest film I have ever seen but it isn't the worst by far.

Re: The Big Wedding
Wouldn't go and see it again even though there are so many screening dates for this but found it watchable and funny in parts although not "uproariously funny" as billed. I think with so many famous names starring in this we were expecting more and that is why we were a bit disappointed. 6/10

Lol, you are all really selling this to me. Have to say, I'm intrigued to see what it's like because it has a strong cast on paper.

Re: The Big Wedding
bloody awful movie. I left early. In all honesty I have been to a lot of awful weddings but none are so dull as this. Clearly the stock in nuptial movies has fallen far since FWAAF, but then you could see that from the title - a big vacuous title devoid of any reason to see it. No wonder no one gets married anymore.
It certainly wasn't a wasted evening though, I walked into Iron Man later which is well worth another viewing.
