Directed by Steven Soderburgh for transmission by HBO at the end of May, this looks like one very weird film!:

Stuff out of Cannes is saying Douglas's performance is really good. Can't wait to see this tomorrow!

Saw a bit of the trailers etc and this looks a right treat.
Douglas's health back in check and Damon looking rather dishy...

Waiting for the film to start at Glasgow Cineworld nearly 6pm and only 6 people here.Always feel a bit cheated when I go to see a made for TV movie at the cinema.Hopefully it will live up to the good reviews that its being getting.

Only 'made for tv' as none of the mainstream studios wanted to touch this one with a barge-pole.

Glad HBO have the guts to put it out there...

Loved it, had a wee bit of humour, wee bit of sadness and what an old toerag Liberace was eh? Matt Damon's make up and Rob Lowe's cameo deserve an award lol :)

7/10 for me at a full Edinburgh.

I thought it rather strange that Lee looked so old at the begining in 1977 as played by Douglas - he looked more like his dad, Kirk, but in later scenes (and not necessarily related to his plastic surgery) his appearance seemed to fluctuaute greatly. I was well impressed how Damon aged throughout the decade though (again also despite "plastic surgery"). I did find the whole thing dragging a bit - it could easily have been a good half hour shorter and not lost anything. Did also get a bit wearing seeing 2 blokes in a bath or 2 blokes in bed so frequently as well.

What did anyone else think of some rather bizarre scenes: when Scott took a Lear Jet to LA there was a scene consisting of several very fluffy unfocused shots of a Lear jet from odd angles, then we jump straight back to Vegas. Whatever it was signifying it didn't work. Secondly that peculiar scene at the funeral (not a spoiler!!) where the church became a stage set for a final number? A bit of artistic stuff that was simply incongruous and pointless.

I'll leave the students to a second diamonte helping tomorrow night!
