I did, it asked me for access to my profile and then didn't do anything else.

I absolutely adored this film. Pretty much a perfectly constructed comedy in terms of mood and character.

Going in I thought it'd be an ego-stroking exercise, but it stands head and shoulders above most things I've seen this year.

Strange - I usually agree with your reviews but I just didn't see what you saw, I am afraid.

Would this have been a different film if it had the same actors but playing fictional characters and not themselves?

I found the self-gratifying parodying and referencing of each other quite distracting. No idea who Jay was or the black guy, and who knows who Danny McBride is.
I enjoy gross-out humour and puerile smutty innuendo like this so I am its target audience. I still can't quite figure what didn't gel for me. It just draaaaaaaaagged.

Hey - it should have had the title at the very end of the film - This Is The End.

PS. Was there anything during the credits? Our lights remained down and at least half our audience remained sitting. I hovered for a bit but started feeling self-concious and geeky looking at credits so left.

A fair amount of people, from films like Pineapple Express, 30 Minutes Or Less and The Foot Fist Way as well as 3 seasons of Eastbound & Down.

But to a lot more people, most of the cast is only really 'that guy's.

Something about it just sat perfectly with me. I respect a film for being the best it can possible be - as far as I'm concerned this film was the best film you could possibly make about a bunch of celebrities dealing with the apocalypse. I also loved how, layered underneath the gross-out humour, there was a warm message about friendship and sacrifice. More than anything, I appreciated the film's rejection of nihilism - it's got something positive to say about the world. The fact that it manages to do this and have a ginormous Satanic willy waving about is the icing on the cake.

So to speak.

Also I might be a little in love with James Franco. This year I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen.

He only has about 13 projects out this year. I've enjoyed them too! I've seen two that won't be released for a while yet as well. I'm very much in love with him as an actor, and its really nice to see that he won't say no to a small part still. I was worried last year when I heard he was doing a planet of the apes movie...but then it was actually good!

There was nothing during / after the credits.
