jeanelle wrote:Saw this at the lovely 20thC Fox screening room courtesy of denofgeek last night. At the last minute they were given a bigger room which could have seated another 20 people. So they told us to make a lot of noise when the Q&A 'guest' arrived. We were led to believe it would be some minor cast member, instead enter Joss Whedon, Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof to a standing ovation!
Very much enjoyed the film, every performance was good and the humour was done well.
Also as a personal bonus got to meet Martadelas properly.
Gutted! I really wanted to go, but was a bit worried about travelling in that area, in view of the protests going on
Glad you enjoyed it and had a great Q&A
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Loved it. It was absolutely perfect, to the point where I want it on DVD so I can go back to it any time I want to. Unless of course the actors want to move in with me and play out different scenes whenever I ask them to.
I know it's part of the job, but it was still super nice that Joss Whedon, Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof came for the Q&A. It was like a cherry on top of a very fun cake.
10/10

As the OH said (avisute) this was a really good film. I'm not a big Shakespeare fan but this was definetly a lot more accessible and fun to watch. You will certainly get more of a kick out of it if you are a fan of all things Whedon and his friends.
Still in geek shock at Joss Whedon turning up! And so glad I got to ask a question to him, Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker. This was a really special night and one we won't forget for a long time.

I thought this was an excellent adaptation of the classic comedy. It was beautifully shot (the party scene and the pool scene in particular stood out), VERY funny (loved the eavesdropping scenes as well as anything that show stealer Nathan Fillian was in) and the cast was just fantastic. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of them, but I do think that Alexis, Amy, Nathan, Fran Kranz and Clark Gregg were particularly good. I was glad that they kept to the original text which, combined with it being shot in black and white, gave the movie a very classic look - despite its otherwise contemporary setting.
9/10
I predicted Joss, Alexis and Amy would be at the Den of Geek screening (as they'd first be introducing the gala screening, followed by a Q&A at the Apple store and it would fit nicely at the end of their evening) but was hoping the gala screening would have other perks (+ I preferred that it was supposed to start 30 minutes before the Den of Geek one, which in the end it did not...). We didn't have a Q& with the three guests but we did have an introduction by them and while we were in a tiny screening room at Vue Piccadilly Circus we shared it with amongst others Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Stewart Head and Jonathan Ross. Not too bad ^_^

Oh what I wouldn't give to have been there...any of those two screening!
I'm gonna go stand in the queue for tonight's BFI session...anyone has any tricks as to how to get last minute standbye tickets?

Lucky those who went to the Apple Store and/or Den of Geek screening. Oh how the film promotion industry is so London-centric. Never mind, It's Grim Up North and all that.

I really enjoyed this. Excellent performances (especially Acker and Denisof) and some very funny moments. I am impressed that Joss Whedon was able to make such an accessible and entertaining adaptation of Shakespeare for a modern audience. 9/10.
I would have liked to have a Q&A but I did get to look at the back of Tom Hiddleston's head for 2 hours (he was only 2 rows in front) so I can't complain.

The Den of Geek screening was so so good. Still smiling at the trio turning up at the end.
The film was superb, genuinely the first time I've found Shakespeare funny and that's no small part to the incredible cast & Joss's direction. The music was beautiful, the acting was amazing and just a perfect film for me

Went to the BFI Joss Whedon in Conversation last night (queued for standby tickets 2 hrs in advance) and Amy and Alexis turned up as well, they were well worth the wait and ticket :) Now, can't wait to see the movie!
