Man of Steel
Re: Man of Steel
Haha. No I did recognise him. He's really cool, unlike some of them. One in Glasgow actually asked me to show her my ticket on my phone as she couldn't make out the numbers properly. She wouldn't accept that I don't even own a smartphone. I had to explain that I used a desktop which I had left behind in my home! Grumpy mare!TheOnes wrote:I'm just wondering about the Skyrep and how low he must've felt after you didn't know him after those hundred times. You don't need to show ID. I've seen your name about 100 times before! On you go!" Lol. How special did I feel!![]()

Re: Man of Steel
Yeah, so, this film can go screw itself much like Sucker Punch. Atrocious, horribly written and directed, zero character or emotion, just noisy, loud, dull, stupid and yet taken oh-so-seriously. Awful, and the 3D made me sick.

Re: Man of Steel
Went to see this on Wednesday but haven't posted until now as the last 48 hours have been pretty hectic plus I initially couldn't quite decide what score I was going to award this flick.
First things first, is this the greatest comic book movie ever made?
Well in my opinion it's a resounding no but I still found watching this to be a more than satisfactory experience and I think they did a pretty good job of combining elements from the first two Christopher Reeve movies whilst managing to take a relatively fresh approach with this material (rather than churn out a straight forward remake).
Henry Cavill was okay in the lead role but I didn't really feel that his performance stood out in a particularly positive way and although (the ever reliable) Michael Shannon was solid I have to say I much preferred Terrence Stamp's interpretation of General Zod. However, I thought the supporting cast was pretty strong and especially enjoyed the performances of Amy Adams, Russell Crowe & Kevin Costner (who played an integral part in my favourite sequence).
I agree with others that time wise it kind of outstayed it's welcome (definitely could have done with losing twenty or so minutes) but despite that I still think (after careful consideration) that it did just enough to warrant me awarding it with an 8/10...

Re: Man of Steel
Saw Man of Steel again today at a corporate event, and I enjoyed it even more on a second viewing! It didn't seem to jumped so much this time, and I really, really like the fresh way of re-telling of the story. I have to up my score to 10/10

Michael Shannon's Zod was all brute force which grated on me very quickly.RAZORBACK wrote:Went to see this on Wednesday but haven't posted until now as the last 48 hours have been pretty hectic plus I initially couldn't quite decide what score I was going to award this flick.

Terence Stamp's Zod had guile and cunning which I much preferred.

Re: Man of Steel
Michael Shannon's Zod was a loon. I sometimes think Shannon is only capable of playing neanderthal-like psychopaths. Stamp played the role with simultaneous menace and sophistication.
Shannon's second in command was far more intriguing.

Saw this just now, I thought it was pretty good and entertaining, a tad too long.
