Was there anything there?Celini wrote:This put a ridiculous grin on my face. I loved the 3-minute opening sequence and laughed almost all the way to the closing credits. The cast is superb and some of the script pretty hilarious.
Not sure about the entire story though, it looked like they started with a really fun idea and never really knew where they where heading, hence the ending felt both overlong and rushed at the same time (odd, right!?).
7/10
(I saw it at an early afternoon screening on release day and I have never seen that many people sitting through the credits for a non-Marvel flick!)

Re: The World's End
I went to the premiere for this and the whole audience and I loved it. I wasn't so keen on the
alien robots
part, but loved all the witty one liners, and nods to other films. Pegg looked strangely attractive in this 8/10

Re: The World's End
Pegg's films have been a bit hit and miss lately but this was a hit in my eyes. I would not say it is as good as Shaun of the Dead but I think it is an improvement on Hot Fuzz. Some really funny scenes and the cast were on top form, sparking off each other really well. It went a bit off track at the end and should have stopped about 10 minutes before it actually did, but still highly enjoyable. 7.5/10.

Re: The World's End
I thought, by far, this was the worst of the trilogy. Nowhere near as funny as the others, seemed to have lost its way in terms of a viable plot(in comparison) didn't really understand or like Pegg's character, and the ending made no sense.
Over all I was incredibly diappointed, only 2 moments that really made me laugh :/

Re: The World's End
Very meh. Certainly the least of the "cornetto trilogy"
Extremely well-made film, but fatally undermined by dull, joke-starved script.
Expected more. (felt exactly the same after seeing "hot fuzz" for the first time...a film I now love after repeated viewing on dvd, so who knows?)
4/10
ps the end monologue was a mistake, adding nothing to the film.
pps I thought Pegg looked slightly ill. (but this was probably deliberate, given his character's mental state)

Re: The World's End
Least rewarding of the trilogy. The film was very "middle of the road".

Re: The World's End
good fun but running out of ideas towards the close, hence the pack everything into the ending but the kitchen sink ending.
worth a 2nd viewing (when it comes on tv, not a cinema ticket) since some of the jokes were a bit subtle, I am sure I missed a good few.
