The Heat
Re: The Heat
Some good points made there and I did think Melissa McCarthy was very good, but she can only work with the material provided. For example the relationships with her family were quite funny, but if finding a 'fat bird' struggling to get out of a car or humour based on a character being an Albino unfunny makes me sophisticated or cerebral then I will have to plead guilty.
Strange, because while it will never make a list of my favourite films I enjoyed Bridesmaids. But then humour is a very individual taste.

Re: The Heat
Just got back from screening and this exceeded my expectations. I was ready for a chick flickesque kind of movie but boy was I wrong! McCarthy and Bullock had great comedy timing, lots of gags/jokes that myself and the whole auditorium in stitches! would definitely recommend to others :)

Re: The Heat
Just home from Wandsworth only about half full
Wasn't bad film but not great and wouldn't watch again
A little disappointed
A few funy bits but not funny enough
And story was too predictable.
4/10

Re: The Heat
Dull.
I'm sure I saw this film years ago, but it had eddie murphy & nick nolte in it & it was funny.
As far as I could tell, the only original idea on show was the "knife-in-leg" routine.

Re: The Heat
I really enjoyed this film, I left the cinema feeling happy, as a good comedy film should leave you feeling.
Would not have dreamed of pairing McCarthy and Bullock together but it really worked, they had a great rapport and somehow they just worked perfectly together, I may even change my quite low opinions of Sandra Bullock films now.
8/10 from me

Re: The Heat
Saw this tonight at Glasgow Showcase with OH and TeddyBear1.
Loved this, laughed from beginning to end - in fact, missed a couple of lines from everyone laughing so loudly.
From the trailer I thought it would be funny but exceeded expectations.
A lot of fun, thoroughly entertained.

Re: The Heat
This was just the pleasant two hours of escapist entertainment for which I was hoping. I agree with June that Sandra Bullock (of whom I however have always been a fan) and Melissa McCarthy made a good pair; for me it was the latter who rose in my opinion as I had previously only seen her in Bridesmaids, I think.
