Re: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Yes it was! That line for the record is NOT in the book. And was beyond corny!
The rules aren't that complicated once you read them, you've also missed the prequel series in your wiki search. The infernal devices...set in victorian london and may be better for you, its perfectly written in old english and I LOVE it, and its the only book that has made me cry my heart out(clockwork princess).
Seriously, you guys are missing out by not reading these books. They're crazy but that's what makes them different! :))

I saw a reference to them but I was quite worn out after reading the lenghty summaries for the five books that have been published so far!

Re: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
The film was spectacular in terms of scenery and CGI, and in spite of pretty poor acting I enjoyed it! I had a lovely catch-up with claire and some other FMUKers which is always nice.
(Have you seen the price of that popcorn!)

Re: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Lovely to meet up with the fabulous Raw and Missgotty (although my carb starved brain thought it was Biscotti
) Thanks for letting us barge in the front of the queue. Good to see everyone else - its been a long time! I changed seats a cople of times and ended up with pxc and sat next to a proper Sunday Newspaper Journo.
My original thoughts were quite harsh, Scooby Doo with Models
ON reflection today it was good apart from the bad acting and cheese fest. Didn't recognize any of the cast apart from the Delicious JRM who at 36 still has it
Rob Sheeran and Aiden Turner were totally unrecognized by me! Both have smouldering Irish sexiness, and I didn't even spot then
So all in all, it was better than a lot of things of that ilk, but I'd rather watch Supernatural or Buffy and Angel.
Having said that, I'm not the target audience 7/10

Re: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
It was good to meet Rawr_XOXO, good job we had some McDonalds before the film after it turned out there wasn't any real food on offer after all. Caitlinmorton as always and Val, Biscotti lol. Beate I originally met you in Islington Vue when your OH was telling me story about this tall guy that sat in front of him who he managed evict so he could see the screen. Nice to see you guys again.
As for the film it was full of cheese and moments of bad acting which made me laugh. Sorry Rawr I'm not sold on this film one, I'm hoping the next one will be better. But you have got me interested in reading the books.

Nearly done with the first book
I think we're about to meet Valentine.
Want to start the second ASAP, mainly so I can get to the third (which I gather is where things get interesting). GUH I don't have time to read books!

Re: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Laughable teen gothic fantasy, as expected, but in a strange way I kind of enjoyed a lot of it. What's happening, did someone put a spell on me!?
Thought Lena Headey would play a bigger part in this but annoyingly she only gets about a minute of screen time. The story is mostly gobbledegook nonsense, they lost me with the explanations (Bach was a demon-hunter, huh?), but there were some good special effects, I wasn't entirely bored watching it, and there's a pretty good AFI track over the credits too, so a surprisingly high 6/10 from me.
The Twilight comparisons are largely unfair though, City of Boners isn't nearly as bad as that!
