Saw this tonight at the excellent Prince Charles Cinema off Leicester Square - it was a free screening first come first serve first 100 people, advertised on the PCC Facebook page. I arrived at 3.30pm (3 hours early) and was 12th in the queue.
We had free beer and a small popcorn each inside. Love the leather seats.
The film itself...
Nowhere near the first one. This had far morw of a comedy element, lots of the crowd applauding and laughing at some of the lines. The sequel starts directly after the end of the first one, but feels rushed and tagged on. The scares are nothing new, we've seen it all before in the first film and The Conjuring. I wanted to see the red demon aka "Darth Maul" from the first one but he never makes an appearance.
The first film felt fresh, polished and genuinely creepy, but this doesn't really ever really match up, although I laughed a lot more. This is the first James Wan film I haven't raved about.
Disappointing, but an easy way to kill 2 hours.
5/10

Re: Insidious: Chapter 2
Saw them via Twitter. Nice to have a little bottle of wine and paper bag of popcorn.
I think it was great to watch them both back-to-back as had forgotten lots of Chapter 1.
Chapter 2 was ok, good to see the story continue but I don't think this had the WOW factor.
I tried to remain serious but there were too many LOL moments which spoilt it a bit.

Re: Insidious: Chapter 2
Personally, I loved it. Great to see the continuation and tie up with Chapter 1. Looking forward to watching Chapter 3.
