Well done Preston1990 you are on a roll. o/ I have lost 1lb this week and you are so right about the vit B content of maltesers - what good advice (no idea where that came from but obviously very wise words ;) ) :shifty:

I must go picking blackberries tonight as ran out of time on Sunday :nono:

I am finding this thread more and more enlightening -- now it's Maltesers that I need to start eating in order to lose weight. I've never tasted a Malteser in my life (I know, I lead a very dull existence) so I shall have to mend my ways pronto!

:shifty: I think it's only fair to point out that eating Maltesers alone, would not in all probability lead to weight-loss. Deary me no! ....you need to combine eating then with rousing choruses of the FMUK vegetable song, and/or the FMUK fruit song, for them to fully work theIr "vitamin B in the malt" magic. o/

Well done on that pound loss Diane - that's a tremendous achievement (given that you only started singing in earnest towards the end of your weight-loss week). I still maintain that you could have doubled that if only you'd started "Cauliflowers fluffy..." just that bit earlier.

Nevertheless, Well Done, Girl! :cheer:

Thanks to all who've congratulated me today too! I knew coming back on this thread would p*y big dividends for my weght-loss goals with all of your encouragement and support. Thanks everyone, you are a great bunch! o/

D'you know biking is just the best thing! It is so enjoyable, it makes losing weight a real breeze and such a pleasure. You just go out and enjoy yourself for a couple of hours and come back invigorated and lighter too. Apart from the cost of a bike (which needn't be expensive) it's pretty much free. o/ If you have any doubts about how fantastic it is, here are a couple of photos that my mate snapped on our yesterday's 24 miler. And yes, that's me on the bench, just chilling and drinking in the fabulous views. You don't need to mix it with traffic on roads either, unless you want too. I just throw my bike in the back of the car, drive to somewhere quiet, park up and ride on the network of bridleways and cycle tracks which seem to be go all over the country. OK - advert for biking over ;) Image

I'm actually off to do Moviemannn's curry sauce base this very minute. Chopping board, knives, wok, frozen crushed garlic, ginger, spices etc and onion at the ready. Gonna be great! o/

I was startled to read this 8O life without maltesers  This needs to be addressed immediately ;)

The countryside looks just stunning Preston1990. I haven't been on a bike for ages but you've got me thinking now.

I've got a bit carried away with cooking this evening but as you know I don't waste food so as I had b*ght a bag of potatoes and not got round to using them I have had a cooking session. Just made an enormous pan full of moviemann's potato and chickpea curry so loads to be frozen, DD had made some chickpea burgers for dinner so just made some healthy spicy potato wedges to go with that plus a large salad plus johnmilton's salsa to add my vegetables and then still had 4 potatoes left so made some mash and froze it. To think that 6 months ago I had never used chickpeas in my life and now I love them along with hummous, thanks to everyone on here for making me more adventurous o/

I left my walk a bit late and was hoping to pick blackberries but it was pitch black when I tried looking for them but it did make me walk pretty quickly as a bit too quiet. Will try again tomorrow but at the vets after work and then 1 private patient so will be 8pm so still have 30 minutes :cross: I'm determined to get some.
On another note I now have 10 portions of moviemann's curry.

You can share my blackberries, Diane ;)

And ....I finally got around to making one of Moviemann's actual curries today, rather than just the curry base (which is definitely on my want list too for the freezer). It was the potato and chickpea and it tastes absolutely delicious, and it really is deceptively easy to make. Here's a link to Moviemannn's recipe http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... pe#p298119 and here's a photo of it in action.

Thanks very much Moviemannn for taking the trouble to post up all these curry recipes. o/ Today's was certainly very impressive. I'll be working my way through all of the others in the days/weeks to come. If you haven't tried them fellow FMUKers you really are missing a treat o/

Thank you so much for the blackberry offer - I just love berries so will really enjoy them. They would be delicious with some natural yogurt after the potato and chickpea curry (if I was any good at IT I would upload my identical meal) I have mine with a chapati with a touch of mango chutney. It's tomorrow nights meal served with a side salad dressed with lemon juice shame I've not got any natural yogurt in as I could make raita to go with it plus use the rest with your blackberries.

10 portions 8O 8O wowwww ! thats a lot ! hope you dont get sick of it !!

If its too much then I would think to pop them into single serving individual microwaveable plastic containers, b*y a stack of pitta breads (you can get 4 packs of 6 for £1 from asian stores) and take the whole lot into work and treat everyone to a nice nutricious lunch on you ! (Assuming you have a microwave there ) But watch out because you could even become 'flavour' of the month ! (pun intended :D :D ) and don't be surprised if people start wanting to order from you and even p*y you ! You may even have to leave your job and go into catering and become the official caterer :D :D

I'm really glad everyone seems to be liking the recipes and actually trying them out too , it really does make it all worthwhile writing them out here , so thank you for trying out :)

And yes Chick peas are amazing, they are so nutricious and keep you full for so long, they also go perfectly with potatoes and as they are so versatile they add a good burst of nutrition to any meal, you can add them into chicken curries , vegatable curries , even the recipe i gave can be changed into different types of curry , another way i would make it is to leave out the tomato and add extra cube of garlic (really nice garlicky chick peas mmmmm) and whole heap of freshly chopped coriander at the end , so basically onions cumin seeds , garlic , spices , add the potatoes and chick peas , little bit of water to help cook, then when potatoes are done , reduce the watery sauce (if needed) so that you have a nicely spiced masala chickpeas and potatoes (rather than curry) then add the garam masala , lemon juice and coriander, can be served in bowls and eaten on its own with a spoon and nothing else (no rice roti or anything) . With this also for something else different you can at the end a load of yoghurt and stir it through , this will become a nicely spiced yoghurty dish that can be eaten with popadums or even dip breads and naans into it. The thing with this type of cooking is that the possibilities are usually endless, its down to your own preferences and imagination to keep the dishes alive and in keeping with changing tastes , same with all the other recipes ive posted up too, so long as you understand the cooking style you can do anything you want with the recipes , please do post your ideas or inventions up here too !

here is my menu that i had today

brekkie - porridge, chocolate and nut protein shake , tea no sugar
lunch - 2 eggs scrambled , 2 salted beef slices , some cheese , 1 x wholemeal pitta ,
mid afternoonn - an apple and cup of green tea

2 hour session at the gym in the evening

dinner - fish and aubergine curry , cucumbers, 2 x wholemeal pitta
followed by banana and cup of green tea

will have a choc nut protein shake soon just before i go to bed

oh and plenty of water throughout the day

Keep going guys , i read all the posts here as much as i can and wish i had time to reply and be more active on here , but you guys are really rocking and its such a pleasure and inspiration to read all your posts

:) :)

wowwwwww ! thats looks excatly how it SHOULD look ! Im very impressed !!!! and im so glad it tastes good too for you ! i would garnish that baby up with a load of split green chillies and fresh coriander , maybe just add a swirl of yoghurt on top of it too to give it a bit of a gourmet look :D

Remember the recipe is yours to do as you wish with dependant on your own taste , so add and remove as you wish , this curry goes very well as a side dish too with some roasted chicken tikka (i posted a recipe for this too before ) and rotis , dont forget to have a nice salad/salsa with it too (chopped onions, cucumbers, tomatoes , fresh coriander, lemon juice salt)

Enjoy my friend !
