Weight Watchers
Re: Weight Watchers
Morning All. Had another run last night, pushed myself a bit further, stayed out for just over 25 minutes this time and hoping to get another run in tonight as I'm celebrating my mother-in-laws 60th on Thursday (it is a manic few weeks of birthdays, my dad,my mother-in-law,my best friend,my brother,me and my son in the space of 3 weeks). Was really happy to find out a gym is opening next month just 5 minutes drive from my house and work. Be nice to get in there and do some weights and mix things up in my exercise routines, keep it fresh.

Re: Weight Watchers
Apologies for not having posted for ages, but I've been too busy eating!
And......As we reap what we sow in this diet and fitness game, I have to report that I have put 2 lbs on over the past week.
Frankly, I've deserved it and I'm actually quite surprised that it wasn't considerably worse.
I'm pleased to read of all you other Weight Watchers success stories though. In particular Mr Glass's squash victory
and alameals impressive first week's weightloss result.
Also, Well Done Moggers for getting back on track
and Diane too, for making inroads into those remaining few pounds.
I'm going to take inspiration from all of your examples and redouble my resolve to shift some weight this coming week.
Time to fill the bedroom floor with my three exercise machines (thanks for the prompt Moviemannn) and get the inspirational NASA Apollo Moon Landing videos back up on screen. It's worked well for me in the past and, as I'm wussing out of biking by myself in the rain, it's gotta be the way to go for me at the moment.
Be good everyone!

Re: Weight Watchers
I'm getting slowly back in the running phase now. Here are my runkeeper recordings just to put the pressure on myself with exposure. I have been running with 3-4kg backpack as I take do the runs as I leave work to go home or home to gym etc. As long as I got access to a shower at the end!

Preston, adding 2lbs is no biggie, you;ll lose that again in no time, key is you know where you went wrong :) You know it and now you will do something about it!
Great to see everyone motivating each other and continueing to do so even when we reach our goals because there is no end, even if you reach your goal, you still have to maintain. I faltered there and that's why I stress to everyone to be patient and adopt your healthy lifestyle gradually so that you can stick to it for LIFE!
Moviemann, wow, thank you for your comment, especially the take your hat off line. You sure as heck made me feel good, I'm not fully deserving of that but made me feel good...god knows what would have happened if I was a girl, given a blush inducing line like that!
So OK, my self assessment on my last few runs tells me I need a lot of progress if I want to get back to half marathon fitness so I best set my half marathon goal, need to find an event for late december but before Xmas.
Alameals, sorry for the delay, you asked about some cool down stretches? Sure. For post running, the main ones you need to do are on your calves, quads and hamstrings but it also helps to do some core stretches too and I am very glad to hear that you are also doing core exercises because running puts a lot of stress on your core so a strong core is essential for running.
OK here are the stretches that I do (although I do the calf stretch somewhat differently but this has the same effect). Its very important to always always engage your core by looking ahead, shoulders back and keeping upright in anything you do, even in sitting down in the office!
http://www.zest.co.uk/running/essential ... /2071.html
These are the essentials. To be honest, the more stretches with different muscle groups, the better as you will be more flexible, less injury prone (and believe me, its only a matter of time before you sustain a muscle or tendon injury if you dont do stretches). If you are game and have a tad more time for more advanced stretches then try these...I will admit, I just do the essentials but I can feel it in my body that I will benefit more with more advance stretching, it will make me more flexible for my squash...you know, I am glad you asked the question because I think I will include more stretch/pilates only sessions as part of my own training program :)
So here is my favourite youtube trainer, Nicole showing you a full body runners cool down stretches.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF8x_SIPRYo
I like Nicole's videos, she demonstrates safe and proper technique comapred to other cowboy trainers on the youtube. But as Diane commented many moons ago, she doesnt spice up her videos with music and sometimes she likes to sniff a lot! But I still fully recommend her videos in her Sparkpeople Channel. Check out her other videos.

Re: Weight Watchers
Yes there isn't much point in just standing on the plate, you need to actual do different static postures or moves. I do heel raises, lunges, squats and on a lower setting I do straight arm planks.
Still feeling that core workout from yesterday too.

Re: Weight Watchers
Morning all. Had another run last night, didn't get in as long as I'd liked, was a bit fatigued because I didn't have the car yesterday so had 4 mile walk from work,so guess that makes up for it. Bit of dodging and diving with food this week, celebrating my mother-in-laws 60th tonight with a meal out, hopefully the menu has some healthy options, then her surprise party on Saturday which I guess I'll have a few drinks, bit of a minefield but long as I keep up my exercising I won't feel too guilty for whatever I eat.
Thank you Mr Glass for getting back to me about the warm down exercises, have made sure to incorporate them in to my runs starting last night and I'll keep up with the core exercises to help me with my progress. I'm looking forward to the gym opening now, have had spells with weight lifting over the years and always enjoyed it so can't wait to get in there again, keep my body guessing at what form of exercise it will get that day

Lovely to see you staying so inspired alameals and looking forward to hearing about your weight training (not something I know much about - I've purely done weights in the past for toning)>
Like Preston1990 I have been so so busy eating over the past 3 days and along with working no time for anything else, pizza but loads of veg, carrot cake and a delicious pasta dish with asparagus, peas and pine kernels but I knew that this was going to happen (a leaving do (the real one is next week), my monthly cake meeting with another friend and a fake retirement do today (she is now leaving in 6 months but 3 of us had already booked leave from work so went ahead with it anyway) and now my friend I'm going to the cinema with tonight has just messaged me to say that she has a box of maltesers for tonight (my all time favourite chocolate

Come on people let's get the body beautiful for Christmas

Re: Weight Watchers
Evening all. Just resting from my 3rd run of the week, finally built myself up to staying out for half an hour, first time since I started up again. Mother-in-laws birthday meal wasn't so bad, it was a Chinese buffet so I just stuck to the meats, chicken, beef and a few noodles and stayed away from the puddings all together and just drank water. Seems boring but keeping my treat day for Saturday as it's a party and I want to enjoy a few drinks. Hopefully squeeze a 4th run of the week in over the weekend. Hope you're feeling better Moggers and thanks for the kind words Diane. Hope everyone has a nice weekend

Re: Weight Watchers
Hope you enjoyed your party last night alameals. Due to the calmness on this thread we are either all too busy exercising or like myself going of track a bit. I ate very healthily yesterday plus did a 4 mile walk and today was going to do my DVD this morning but we have the roofers here (yes started at 8am on a Sunday morning) and I'm too embarrassed to do it just in case they can see me
I have had a milk shake with raspberries and a banana for breakfast which is 300 calories.
I will post back later as doing a double cinema today so will have a healthy snack when I'm there plus do a couple of Tiffany Rothe workouts later.
Keep posting and have a fun day
