I wondered why they wouldn't put anyone in the front few rows!

I cannot say i was particularly impressed by the lady member of the security staff who was shouting instructions and, if my ears didnt fail me, threatened anyone whos phone went of with ejection by security. I mean, just a simple reminder would have sufficed there. I am as anti-mobilephonist as it gets for movies, and even i didnt appreciate that tone!

Paisley Showcase have no people skills in general. I hate going to previews there especially at night, one duty manager in particular is a grumpy cow and she shouts, might have been her.

This was very nearly perfect.

90% of the jokes / situations were spot on hilarious, but what came as a huge surprise was the touching / heartfelt relationship between grandad and Billy.

You don't go into a Jackass movie expecting it to be moving, but I must admit welling up when
billy was asking that man to be his new daddy
4 walkouts at nottingham (but i think they were all together, so perhaps only some of them offended) and that happened during grandpa's Y-front 'mishap'.

My dear old mama (64) was bent double with laughter for about 80 of the 90 mins. She has never seen anything jackass related, but did enjoy Borat. So perhaps this can find the wide audience it deserves.

It would be churlish to give this less than a 10/10 (although it is not perfect)....so 10/10

ps for anyone who hasn't seen it yet DO NOT watch the trailer. It gives away too many of the jokes & I wish that they had all come as a surprise.

Was it just not to your kind of humour rather than being a v poor movie?
I love Jackass and Borat, which I guess this is similar to, but just found this really hard work. Not offended just not amused.

I can see how one might walk out of the movie, there are some stretches of it with largely mediocre jokes in it, especially in the first 15 minutes, and theres a lot of mediocrity present you know. Theres few things more offputting than hearing the rest of the audience bawling at very crap jokes. The movie is pretty much struggling on the ropes early on with the widower scenes. Its also way too obvious that the movie is largely setup and not shot naturally, so I don't know why they wasted time trying to make out it was all filmed with hidden cameras in the credits. Are viewers that stupid these days? surely not.

However the standout set pieces, of which there are several, are immensely funny. Punching holes into several of the bedrock establishments of the USA stabilises the movie when it feels like its getting too raucous. Its obvious the makers have seen Borat but rather than gassing out of gags halfway like Borat did Grandpa gains his second wind as the movie progresses. This is helped by being the first jackass product to qualify as a real movie with an actual story. Clearly the makes of this series have grown up and become men now, but thankfully haven't lost the childishness that makes the series fun.

undisputed points win after a shakey first few rounds for Grandpa Jackass.

Interesting because those are definitely the same genre of comedy, do you think it was something to do with the characters being an old guy and a young kid and it's just harder to find humour in those personalities rather than the 'idiots' from the other movies?

the first few scenes were just poor, basically granpa doing the complete opposite of what anyone would expect in situations, which is becomes really predictable and boring very quickly.

One highlight for me was the vacuous and pompous starlet little girl, who was so dumb that its hard to believe she wasn't scripted. If she wasn't scripted, god help America. Her post credits scene in particular is going to make her cringe so bad one day. Well at least it ought to, someday....

I don't really understand your point, are you saying that everyone was acting and there was a camera crew we didn't see or it was so obvious that they were using hidden cameras that we didn't need to see them at the end?

In a nutshell, I find it impossible to believe that none of the films public participants realised that the most bizarre events were not staged. You know, no one can be that stupid as to see a grandad with obviously plastic flaps out as anything but staged, so I am not sure why the public are depicted as accepting it as a real reactions. Certainly we the viewers aren't stupid enough to believe that the 'members of the public' in the scenes weren't pa*d actors for a LOT of the scenes.
