Went to see this on Saturday and was pretty impressed, it was incredibly tense throughout & featured a great central performance from Tom Hanks (especially in the final five or so minutes).
I was pleased that there was so much more to this film than had been shown in the trailer & was also relieved that it was quite different to the similarly themed 'A Hijacking' (which I'd already seen earlier this year). The only negative point for me was that the air conditioning was switched off during the screening consequently it kinda felt like I was stuck in the life boat as well

.
Overall I thought this was a very decent dramatic thriller which more than deserves an 8/10 from me

I could not fault this film, so I have to give it 10/10. I thought the whole thing simply flew by because of the drama and the constant action.
I had deliberately avoided reading anything about it, so I was able to watch it purely for the story of the film. However I will now do some background reading into the true story.
I thought Tom Hanks gave a mesmerising performance, particularly at the end. I will be thoroughly recommending this film to everyone I know.

Tom Hanks deserves everything he receives from this performance, truly fantastic. Can safely say this will be on my dvd shelf when it comes out :)

I'm going to give this a 9/10 - a beautiful piece of cinematography with a flawless performance from Tom Hanks. Actually want to see it again as soon as possible. Definitely recommended.

Another brilliant Tom Hanks film. Glad to see that it was much different from 'A Hijacking' although one of the Somali actor's appeared in both films. Very gripping and tense. Loved it.

I missed all the preview screenings for this but finally managed to catch it yesterday, and it was worth the wait. I thought this was brilliant - nail-biting, edge of your seat action and gripping throughout. Very impressed with Tom Hanks’s performance, thought he was excellent. One of my top films of the year. 9/10.

I would rate this film 8/10. The storyline was realistic (well it was based on a true incident) and the acting very credible. You almost felt like you were there watching a real situation with normal people unfold.
There was also sympathy for the plight of the pirates I thought. They're caught between absolute poverty and explotive, hard task masters (the true villians), lured by dreams of wealth.
Barkhad Abdi as Muse was truly amazing considering he was a chaffeur just before making this, his first film.

From reading the reviews, its no surprise that this is still pulling the crowds and screenings are still quite full.
Thought it was quite good, intense and rather nail-biting. Have to take a pinch of salt with some of these stories "based on actual events".
Overall thought there was some good all-round performances (especially from the Somali cast) but not sure it's as phenomenal as some of the ratings on here. Perhaps a conservative 7/10...
