Wow, photo ID is a bit extreme. You can usually get away with a credit card bearing the same name so your friend could try that if he trusts his friend enough.

It's been photo ID for a while now for VIP tickets, I guess they're started to implement it on all of them now? (haven't actually been asked for it yet, mind, but that depends on the venue)

Went to "From Morning to Midnight" at the Lyttelton Theatre last night. It's always a treat to go to the National and got a pair of seats in Row R in the stalls, good view of the stage once we shifted to the middle (the entire row was mostly empty). It was visually stunning, amazing set, light and sound effects, good acting but the plot and dialogue left me cold. On balance, I was glad I went to see this, but equally glad to leave.

That's exactly how I felt about it. The first half was more engaging and interesting to me, as I couldn't connect to the second half at all (too pretentious and disconnected) but I was in awe of the staging and music throughout the entire performance regardless.dovetail wrote:Went to "From Morning to Midnight" at the Lyttelton Theatre last night. Row T here by the way, which I feared would be too far back (only ever sat front row and middle of stalls in the Lyttleton) but was absolutely fine because of excellent incline.

Agree with previous reviews. I was so looking forward to this! And it started brilliantly but then went downhill, story wise... A very good production! it was a treat, a shame the story became a bit boring towards the end...

Yes. I went on Saturday. I enjoyed the play with one fairly major drawback though. No Iain Glen, who was 'indisposed'. His understudy, Patrick Cremin, was okay though I couldn't help feeling that Glen would have tackled the role with a little more pathos and emotional weight. Richard McCabe was excellent value as the second lead though. I'm glad I saw it but will keep an eye out for more tickets later in the run in the hope that Iain Glen will be back in it.MrD wrote:Any one been to Fortunes Fool at The Old Vic ?

I thought it was great, even with the understudy, but I do wish I could have seen it with Iain Glen.
Very funny, and a good supporting cast as well.
