Having got soaked on my walk yesterday (my trainers are still damp), I thought I'd wear my proper walking boots today as they're muddy and the rain would clean them. Of course it stayed dry for the whole 2 hours.... though I hasten to add that I prefer that to getting drenched again, even if my boots still need cleaning.

Nice sunny morning in Surrey, as forecast, so have done a 5-hour walk (need to keep it ticking over ready for the longer days and better weather) and now feel I have earned my tea and tiramisu cake!

Well I would say for sure you had earned your tea and cake. And thank goodness there was tiramisu cake (exotic!) about and not just mince pies -- of which we know your opinion!

I've never even heard of a tiramisu cake which is quite shocking considering my reputation for cakes (I do like a mince pie though) 8O A 5 hour walk is impressive - I really need to get my act together as I do love walking - my poles probably need dusting by now as only done flat walking of late.

To my shame I b*ght it from Costa, but I hadn't time to cook as well as walk and tend to a sick OH. I have however plied him with porridge this morning so that at least he has something sustaining before I hare off for the day.

Hope your OH is feeling better. Porridge heals all wounds, especially any version involving Golden Syrup.

I have learned Blackbird by the Beatles which was much easier than I expected though sounds better with a capo on 2nd fret for a singalong. Next, Never Going Back by Lindsay Buckingham. God help my uncalloused fingers with that one.

Was thinking what a horribly flat, grey, uninspiring day it was and that I couldn't even recall the last time I'd had a Sunday morning preview to attend - then I remembered that yet again, we have no trains today so I wouldn't be able to go if there was one anyway! As if being without trains for at least 8 consecutive days over Xmas and New Year wasn't bad enough... only a week later, they are at it again.
