This has probably been one of my most anticipated "freebie" movies for a while. Having been to Berlin and absolutely loving it. Going to the university and also the memorial of the book burnings, i was really excited for this.

I cant get my head around how good the the girl was (Sophie Nelisse). The father was also brilliant.

Really enjoyed it 5/5 for me.

[my only confusion is that in Berlin there is a trip-advisor famour burger bar called burgermeister, but the word actually refers to the state governor. Ofcourse the movie used the latter version lol]

I really enjoyed this film. Very powerful story. The Performances were magnificent particulary the girl who played Leasel and Geoffrey Rush as Hans. Was also beautifully shot and directed. 4/5

It's called a pun. Even the Germans do word play now and then.

Just seen this film tonight and found it very enjoyable. Good performances by all and the 2hours flew past. My only gripe was that it felt too nice considering the subject matter and I never felt the characters were truely in danger. I recommend the film is worth a watch but it didnt leave a lasting impression.

Went to see the Book Thief at Star City there was a delay of 45 minutes for a 'digital key' as apparently there was some concern over the security did anyone else suffer this problem? The film was worth waiting for but some people left because they couldn't wait and from the way the manager spoke ( a member of the audience had to go and find out why after 20 minutes of waiting) he had no idea when the 'key' would arrive and even whether it would.

I did not find this as affecting as I expected to. Quite watchable but it did feel very long and protracted. Performances were all good and the film looked genuine but overall was left somewhat cold.

I have no desire whatsoever to read the book. 7/10.

A film that captured the small town atmosphere of war-time Germany perfectly. The mistrust and the fear gripped me. A film worth seeing with excellent performances but sad and if you go to see it, don't forget to take a handkerchief.
