The best film I've seen this year.

7/10 from me.
I agree. Someone walked out but I'd didn't feel it was a film to be walked out on.

My oh and I didn't enjoy this film that much either and thought that it dragged.

To be honest, the (not credible) "German" accents were annoying me as well as the gratuitous inclusion of German words in English sentences (e.g., "und").

It annoyed me too. I am still raving about the film though. I found it very moving and the actors were excellent. I am still thinking about the film which is a sign that it made an impact on me.

So pleased you liked it, Beate. I was worried that your lack of review had meant you hadn't enjoyed. I so wanted you to like it! o/
Hearing such an amalgam of both of your languages must have been rather bizarre I would have thought.
It grated on me a little initially, but I think it would have been too saccharine if it had all been in American, and I was glad the subtitles dissolved after only a very short time. As you know I'm not a fan of having to read at the same time as watching action. Lol. I'm just too lazy.
(I am however a fan of foreign film and do do subtitling in general rather than dubbing).

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

Sometimes I sits and thinks....and sometimes I just sits.

Some good characters but I didn't enjoy it/move me as much as I was expecting.

It was my first ever free film and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Nice introductory film for CHILDREN to an otherwise overused subject. Good portray of the uselessness of war and how most normal people just want peace and don’t care who their neighbour is. Couldn’t stop thinking how similar to Walt Disney films (not cartoons) and unrealistic it is though (I think I show my age here lol), very stereotypical. Loved the costumes but then again quite unrealistic, i.e use of zippers in fashion only started in the mid 1940s. Language as you all say was appalling and as I know nothing of German I missed the meaning of most of the German words you all mentioned here. And what’s with death talking all over the film when you are least expected?! Overall a good film that keeps you engaged. Actors were all amazing but there was’s really any special acting. 7/10 only because it’s a family film

If we are looking for a film to be authentically from the German perspective it should be in German!
