It seems to be directed at the secondary uses.
Thank you!

And thank you Beate for all the info/help. There's a wealth o info and I don't have time to read it all now, so can someone quickly tell me what the deadline for opting out is?

I would say this month as the uploads are due to start next month.

There also appear to be 2 different databases
This is not the Summary Care Record. The two
databases are very different. Opting out of one
database does not mean that you have
automatically opted out of the other.

To be honest, I am getting confused myself now as there are opt out forms that look the same for the Summary Care Record.
I would opt out soon as it's middle of February already.

Yesterday I went to my Doc's, I luckily hardly ever go. I went in told her my problem etc, she then prescribed a remedy. When I was leaving the room she asked if I was a smoker, I replied no why? could this be a cause of the problem. She then looked at me and quickly said "No, no its just me, its for personal records" I didn't really think anything of it until I read this page. So it seems like there already filling in the blanks on medical records!

I personally think they have kept this very quite, everyone I've ask doesn't seem to know anything about it. less people that know more records they receive I suppose!

I also wonder if this has something to do with building up data like on how many people visit the Doctors/Hospitals and for what reasons. As the privatisation of the NHS seems to be a hot topic still and you could do a lot with all that information.
Dad you were like a father to me...

Yes it looks like the form I used to opt out and posted earlier on, just a slightly abbreviated version, but all the important stuff is in it.

Just adding to this, do you realise that you have to opt your children out not just yourself?

David Davis (great name) MP, as part of the Guardian's link

'Davis, who established the existence of these "backdoors" in a parliamentary question answered by health services minister Dan Poulter, said he had "no problems with the data being used for licensed medical research, but when we have police accessing from a database that people have opted out from, and companies being able to b*y this data, I think we need to have a debate about whether my property, which are my patient records, can be sold and used".

Thanks for that info Beate - now I can see your concern. That is pretty bad to say the least. I shall look out for that when it come through the door or ask the Doc next time I'm at the GP surgery.

MPH students from the Imperial College London School of Public Health recently debated the arguments for and against the NHS care.data programme.

Thanks for that. The students for it didn't have much to say.
