Having been to Pompeii too, I was actually disappointed that herculaneum wasnt mentioned at all :(
Which is the neighboring city that got oblitered by the a volcanic mudflow first, and the refugees fled to pompeii before the pyroclastic cloud hit.
And the film is definitely dragged out a lot, the residents ignored the quakes as they happened so regularly, and even after the ash began to fall their was no panic, the majority attempted to brush the ash of their rooftops to keep their homes/shops clean. :giggle:

Id also like to point out that in Boudica sacked and burned Londinium before AD79 so im not entirely sure how much of the city would still have been standing^-^

Fim/script was awful and felt to me like it should have been a TV movie, cut scenes showing an erupting volcano, romance scenes, cut scene showing an erupting volcano, action scenes etc etc

No, it is not him, but Kit looked familiar and I could not remember the name of the actor he so reminded me of, until right at the end, it came to me! Has that same type of look. :P

Saw this last night in Glasgow.

I thought it took a long time to get going and was a bit bored for the first half of the film.
It did however turn itself around and I found myself enjoying it much more.
3D and special effects were really good.

I'm a huge Kiefer Sutherland fan but I have to agree with others, his accent was not good.
6/10 from me.

A predictable watch but enjoyed it never the less. Back to what you do best Kiefer and that's 24. Accent had me smiling. Reminded me of the Titanic story line a bit but at least they got to stay together....literally.
Liked the 3d effects and the ash floating about the Cinema added to the film. Pompeii is definitely on my bucket list so will look out for the entwined couple.

Nice to catch up with some of the gang x

Well, I got a lot of rolly eyes exercise during this film! This was disappointingly awful. Felt like I wanted to walk out within first 15 minutes.

Bad acting from actors I think can do better. Love Kiefer Sutherland in 24, but he is ruining is reputation in this, maybe that is how the director wanted him to play it but if that's the case they got the casting wrong with Kiefer - he was terrible. Kit was ok and I think Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was good. The rest don't deserve a mention.

The plot was ridiculous. It was bad cheese without the comedic value. It seemed like it ripped off several scenes from films that have done this type of tale 100 times better (i.e. Gladiator and 300). No originality. 3D was decent though. I do not recommend. 4/10.

It was very cheesy trash, and both Kit Harington and Emily Browning were wooden as hell. Still, I liked Kiefer Sutherland, who seemed on a mission to chew as much scenery as the volcano did. Loved Adewole A-A too, and got to chat with him for a while outside the cinema - v nice guy.

For me this did not fall into the so-bad-it's-good category. The script and dialogue really were quite dire and while the eruption in the final act did make it somewhat better, the 3D was not overly impressive and the special effects looked a bit dodgy at times. 4/10

Quality wise this pretty much lived down to my expectations, although the final section of the movie was done quite well, everything leading up to it was pretty poor.

The story based filler was generic & the dialogue was terrible, consequently the cast (excluding Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who actually managed to create a decent on-screen character) ended up producing two dimensional performances.

That said, it was entertaining (albeit, more often than not, for the wrong reasons) and time wise it didn't drag so overall it did just enough to get a 5/10 from me...
