ejwrank wrote:That looks delicious, preston and clever of you to combine saving money and weight watching (or perhaps not weight watching!). I would have fought you for that cake as son is a massive choc cake fan though I haven't had any chocolate for 3 weeks now. I credit Diane with that as she managed to give up chocolate for all of Lent so I thought I'd give up chocolate for a while too. I did err once when my cappuccino had a sprinkling of cocoa powder but that will be our secret.

Funny though when you first said celebration I figured you must have a tin of celebrations chocs in front of you. That choc cake is a much better treat.
Well done on the chocolate ejwrank and I must admit that a cappuccino with no chocolate is just not the same. Tthis is my 10th year that I have given it up for lent and this time it wasn't as bad as usual.

Homemade yoghurt sounds delicious o/ I remember when my girls were babies and waiting for them to wait up after their afternoon naps I had way too much time on my hands and made all sorts so much so I was giving it away

Yes Diane, been there made the tie-dyed t-shirt. I sewed, knitted, cooked, brewed..etc...I remember the girls pleading for 'shop' clothes. They weren't ready for individuality at that age.

I thought I was dying on Sunday, but I can move a lot more easily today, so am thinking about returning to the gym today (if my new trainers turn up). o/ Thought even if I manage half an hour, it's better than nothing. I'm so very pleased with this free trial, if I get to the end, I may even p*y to continue. Apparently someone I know pays over £100 a month for his gym, so mine is starting to sound very cheap... Think it's only £30 a month.

I haven't tried Zumba, I don't think my home gym actually runs that as a class, I'm just doing cardio workouts and getting more walking in. I'm not really sure how much impact the gym will have, but I do want to get healthier as well as thinner.

Eclairs must be scoffed straight away, but chocolate cake freezes well. I fear that advice comes too late though. ;) If you must be bad, you must enjoy it, and that cake really looked worth the calories. o/

I can imagine how frustrated you must be, baty. I wonder if there is any exercise you could do sitting down to help keep your fitness up? I guess with your leg so poorly you're really restricted to watching what you eat, rather than what you do.

Good luck to everyone at the start of another new week. We can do this! o/ o/

Did a bit of 'walking' today. Only about 30 mins in total, with a sit down inbetween but at least I was up and out. Had to do at baby steps with heel toe movement, sounds easy until you have to think about how you move  OH was laughing at the concentration on my face, apparently I was pullying some funny jibs.

I am doing some sitting exercises asamaic, my downfall is portion control.

I do get frustrated but I also take medication for the pain that has made me drowsy/sleep and it effects my memory... so I forget what I am frustrated about. Have to use OH as my backup memory at the moment.

Signed up to the official WW again tonight and they've put me on the new simple start thing which has already gone straight over my head :S

From what I can tell, I have a specific list and treat options to follow for the first week, with fresh cooking in mind, then after that I can switch it around :/

SO that being said, im having my last 'blow out' tonight as its Game of Thrones night, and I shall be indulging in a large bowl of ben n jerrys before saying goodbye to it for the near future </3

Hope you enjoyed your Ben and Jerrys and welcome back. Hope everyone has had a good week.
Been on a few evening walks so feel a bit fitter. Away for 3 days now and unsure what people eat in Switzerland but I'll try and be good.

Welcome back WeLiveAndBreathe and good luck with the WW thing. You'll have to pass on some official WW secret tips. I could certainly do with some new ideas. :D

Gosh, are you off on your hols again, Diane? ;)
:shifty: I'm pretty sure that the staple diet in Switzerland is Toblerone, so there's a stroke of luck! o/

And ...talking of luck - it was weigh-day again for me today. They certainly seem to come around quickly. After my last week's brilliant three pound loss, I am devastated (although not overly surprised) to have to report a three pound gain. :crying: My dieting is like the "yin and yang" of weightloss at the moment, balancing itself out perfectly. :(

I've given myself a stiff talking to, and there'll certainly be no more celebratory cake for me this week  As you guessed Asamaic, none of the cake made it anywhere near the freezer. On a more positive note there's none left now, so I won't be tempted further by it. :nono:

Well done on the walking Baty and Diane! o/

Good luck for the coming week everyone. :D

Ms Thrifty wrote:Don't know if this would be appropriate for you, BettyBoop, but I am a great fan of Nordic Walking, which you do with poles. They are great if you have some sort of injury (e.g. knee/hip/back) as I have, because they redistribute both your body weight and the effort. You also burn up more energy, so that's two benefits for the price of one. You can either do the same amount of exercise but use up more energy than normal, or you can do less and use the same amount, which saves on time.

I think going to a class is great for motivation and support, but if you want to get out and do something physical as well, this is cheap, easy and apart from the poles, doesn't need special gear.
Now that sounds like something I could do when I get back into walking. Will look into this in my area. Thanks Ms Thrifty

I too love Nordic walking and you don't need to go to a class as very similar to Nordic skiing. Brilliant exercise and fabulous for your back too. You can watch it on you tube andyou just need to get some hiking poles but make sure that have a bit if a spring for shock absorbing properties.
Toblerone sounds perfect Preston1990 and yes away again and once again too excited to sleep ha ha!

Happy Swiss hols, Diane. Fondue followed by Preston's Toblerone should keep you going!
