Re: Chef
Saw this on Tuesday at West India Quay and mostly enjoyed it. It's light, fairly forgettable, and the social media references get irritating very quickly, but it was also charming and refreshing to see Jon Favreau returning to the small-scale style of his earlier films. Plus, however weak the story is, there are a lot of mouth-watering foods to hold your attentions.

Re: Chef magazine validation
Is there a need to p*rchase this months copy of "Heat" ?
I have a ticket awaiting printing and the VERY FIRST LINE reade (cut & paste"
"This is a Heat Magazine Preview. A copy of the page in Heat Magazine is required to validate ticket. No photocopies "
I don't want to show up on Monday and be barred from seeing the film
Any / all comments please

Re: Chef
Cinema staff rarely know in advance which screen the film will be in, let alone know to ask for the magazine. I have taken the page in the past but it's pretty pointless.
I loved Chef, 10/10. Great plot, acting, humour, food and soundtrack.
Didn't find the twittering tweety birds irritating, reading comments before hand I thought it's be all the time but now I can't understand why folk moaned about it honestly.
Screen was totally full, those arriving in pairs after 10:20 had to be seated by staff and those arriving later had to sit apart.
So long since there was a free screening (1 in 6 months posted with 2 hours notice) at my local venue then 2 in 2 weeks, here's to more!

Re: Chef
Hi there! Review no. 2 here! I loved it. I totally b*ght into the whole food, tweet, road trip, good music feel of the movie. Thought the likelihood of Jon F landing a woman like his ex was pushing it a bit but stranger things have happened! It was also educational for me. I now know where my grilled cheese sandwiches are going wrong and I also now have a basic working knowledge of Twitter!!!!!!

Re: Chef
Saw this in (less that half-full) Wandsworth yesterday. I didn't really know what to expect apart from I thought it was meant to be a comedy. The film had a very weak father/son bonding road-trip story line. I didn’t really find it funny at all but I am a bit embarrassed to say that I quite enjoyed it. It was VERY cheesy (literally!) but I liked the Cuban soundtrack and as long as you don’t expect too much from the film, then it was OK. I have been to Cuba, but I never saw anything remotely resembling those Cuban sandwiches when I was there! Was absolutely starving when the film finished! Some very big names – Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jnr, Scarlett Johansson had some very small parts. Probably wouldn’t recommend it, but OK for a Sunday morning film. 6/10
Re: Chef
Couldn't engage with this film at all and so pleased my o/h didn't come with me as he would have been asleep, the only salvation for me was the thumpingly great sound track, the genuine bikers in the Texas scenes and the photography, both of the places they visited and the food, to be fair if it wasn't for that I would have fallen asleep myself, Zzzzzz
Re: Chef
I'm pleased that I'm not the only one who didn't enjoy this film. The food was scrumptious and the scenery wonderful but the story so predictable and boring it nearly hurt. The acting was adequate apart from blond puppet wife who was appalling. We don't often see such bad acting it astounded me. Still the food was great and I really would have loved to try one of those cheese-meat toasted delights. Yummy!

Re: Chef
I really enjoyed this a great feel good film 8/10
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Re: Chef
I really enjoyed this film too. Saw it at Picture House in York that was full with not a single seat free..which is lovely to see.
I thought Jon Favreau was superb, Scarlett Johansson was not in the film enough to really engage with her, but John Leguizamo was great as the side kick and the smug Oliver Platt played the soulless critic role very well.
Lots of mouth-watering food, lead us to eat out rather than catching a sandwich which again made our morning out into a great day out x
8/10 for me
