Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
Edinburgh Cineworld seem to have introduced the Allocated Seating ahead of time but although some have been given allocated seats, others haven't and when they turn up, staff are telling everyone to sit where they want. That would drive me mad.
Btw although this doesn't affect previews such as Total Film screenings, it will apply to Cineworld's own Unlimited previews.

I cannot believe in 2014 seating plans will not be available when booking.
May as well book by pigeon post!
Utter, utter madness.
Luckily I only really go to free previews now!

The online seating plan is pathetic too. You have to play "guess the seat number" if you want to choose your own seat next to your pal or something.KM&M wrote:I cannot believe in 2014 seating plans will not be available when booking.

Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
It's been just over a month since the allocated seating policy has been implemented by Cineworld I thought I'd post a quick update on my experiences with it so far.
Although I'd have preferred it if they'd just left things as they were it hasn't really caused me any problems. As I book online (either via my laptop or smartphone) I've always been able to select my preferred choice of seats and generally speaking haven't as yet had any issues with people sitting in my seat or being able to move to alternate seating if required.
Admittedly I've avoided going to see the big releases at peak times (typically end up going to a late morning screening instead) and/or just waited a week or so after the general release date but overall it hasn't made my cinema going experiences any less positive & I do like being able to see potentially how busy each individual screening is going to be (when selecting my seats).
I also think the decision to allow unlimited card holders to book more than one screening in advance online (two for red card holders & three for premium card holders) will help make things a lot easier going forward

Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
I agree this is a terrible system.
On a recent visit I was with a group of 10 & we all pa*d separately as some were getting popcorn &/or drink and others just a ticket.
When I asked how full it was I was told not many seats left (total lie once in the screen!!!!!)
They had one row near the back we could fill but couldn't guarantee we'd all sit together as the seats might have gone by the time we've all pa*d!!!!!!!! How stupid is that? It takes so much longer to p*y now too we nearly missed the start of the film!
Some wanted to save 10% and book online but didn't as they might have been sitting alone!!!
I complained to Cineworld & am currently awaiting a response. Maybe if they receive enough complaints they'll remove the stupid system!?

Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
I've been to Cineworld Sheffield twice since they brought in allocated seating and both times I've seen arguments over it.

Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
Personally I don't mind allocated seating, however this is most likely due to that I only p*y to go to the cinema when I book in advance so I get to choose where I sit then and as times are often a bit of a narrow allownace from leaving work it means that I'm not stuck in a really bad seat. Granted if I'm going on a whim and have to talk to the people on the Box Office about where to sit it is an absolute pain as they never understand where you want to sit, but generally speaking I prefer having allocations.

Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
We used the seating system and although there were loads of seats a large party had taken our 3 seats. It wasn't a problem as we sat next to them but what was the point in allocating seating.
Re: Cineworld Allocated Seating
This could be just another whim. Why they think it would work when other cinema chains have tried in past and it's failed. You would think they would learn from other failings. I can't see it lasting long, unless they dig their heals in to be stuborn. I'd say they will have it like Vue, Odeon only premium seats allocated or special events like the NTL soon enough. Cineworld doesn't affect me as my closest one is miles off, i'ld have to pass at least two other cinemas to get to it.
